Help with code P24A0
I pulled into my driveway last night and the "exhaust filter full" message came on as I backed into the garage. Driving in to work this morning, a regen started once the engine got warm. The filter went down to 50%, then the check engine light came on. Its code P24A0, some kind of temperature not at threshold thing.
Now I read some older threads on this and the fix seems to be split between reset it and no worries to you need a new catalyst system. As these trucks get older and people start seeing this code, I'm hoping someone has more info on it.
I live in the country, so my 27 mile drive to work is 2 lane roads at 60 mph with a few stop signs. The outside temp was in the low 40's. A few years ago, the dealer reflashed the PCM to solve the jack hammering issue I had experienced and all was well until now. I would appreciate any new info. Thanks for reading
As you increase your speed or give it fuel then it starts with EGT 11 and on down the line.
The truck is under extended warranty, but the closest dealer is 40 miles away. Diesels go thru their fleet department and, I guess they only have 1 or 2 techs because it takes about 3 weeks to get it looked at. I guess I am just wondering if I should reset it and see if the code comes back, because nothing is worse than bringing the truck in and they "can't duplicate the problem". But if I am reading this right, it looks like an EGT sensor is going bad?
