Just a heads up I pulled the trigger on some Beamtech H13 LEDs. The reviews are pretty good. I’ll update this thread once I get them installed. Thanks for the help everybody.

So did I. I got both the headlights and the fog light bulbs - looking forward to being able to see again

Nice. I didn’t get any fog light bulbs because I already replaced them with a 18” LED light bar. Fit right in the opening and I used the stock fog light wiring.
I tried several LED's in the stock headlamp and the pattern was horrible. These headlamps depend on a reflected flood of light from a 360* bulb. All the LED's I see out there are one sided. I tried flipping them in the lamp and it was worse. I got a better pattern and more light from a standard bulb. The stock reflectors are not made for a point type of light.
The other thing I believe is affecting everyones perception of 'these headlamps suck' is the fact that all the roads are being covered with blacktop, a dark surface. (its cheaper and doesnt last near as long as concrete) If you drive on a concrete surface, you'll find your headlamps seem to work better.
Im really not a fan of blinding LED's and HID's coming at me at night. Its very distracting.

You don't state what year model your Excursion is in your signature, so I went to your profile page and saw that your headlights are the 2000-2002 oem style that have all the diffusers on them, unlike the 2003-2004 style that are a clear lens. I upgraded our 2000 Excursion to the 2003-2004 clear style headlight units in conjunction with the LED bulbs and it made a huge difference. So maybe that's your issue with not being able to get them to work satisfactory.
The only thing I don't really like about the LED bulbs...I have the units that have a flat blade which have 2 LED on each side...is the high beams are more to be desired. I haven't been concerned given the low beams light up way more area that the incandescent bulbs. Installing them I noticed one pair of the LED comes on for low beams and the other second pair LED comes on for high beam, and I would think all four would come on for high beams.
I have also been running the LED bulbs in both trucks and really like them. So much better natural white light. The Excursion has the stock type clear aftermarket lenses like the 2003's had and I upgraded my F350 to the 05 Harley style lenses. Not a big difference between the two.
I have an 01 excursion but upgraded the lights to I believe it was 05 Harley lights. I have never been impressed with the light from these, fog lights give off better light. Which bulb is needed for the Harley lights?

I have the opposite scenario, the fog lights...which I installed the LED bulbs...are purdy much useless. After some research, the earlier 2001-2004 fog lights have a hole through the front of the reflector, whereas the 2005-2007 have no hole and reflect all the light back into the chrome back lens like the headlights do. Which bulb are you running in your fog lights?
The bulb for the Harley style head light units is the same 9008 bulb for the 2005-2007 head light units. Which bulbs are you running in your head lights?

Everything has stock bulbs as far as I know. If I have changed them it would have been with a stock replacement.. I like the fog lights because they do a nice job or lighting up the peripheral. Seems like they double the light compared to just low beam. Thanks for the headlight part number.
I did a sealed beam swap on my excursion. (look at my excursion build thread) and put truck lite 5x7 sealed beam replacements and they are worth every penny. you can see street signs a mile away on brights. But they go for 300 for the pair so might be out of budget. but I Love my new lights.
