Are your LED headlights "fanless"? Do they have a separate "driver" that you plug in?

They do have a fan, but do not have a separate driver. They are these: https://www.starklights.com/led-head...bulbs-h13.html
I know it lists 'digital driver', but if they are there... they are integrated, because is nothing else between the bulb and the stock harness connector.

I think it must be a new version of the same model... the listing on amazon is still that of the old ones, or at least no mention of the digital drivers.

Hey all,
I have a quick update.
To recap:
I have a 2004 Excursion Eddie Bauer 6.0 - with the issue - turning my fogs on also turns on my high beams.
New install: NINEO Gen II LED headlights 9007 (awesome by the way)
New install: Sealight LED Fogs H10

I am in Ontario, Canada and I was concerned that the bambi "mod" described here wouldn't work as I have a Canadian vehicle with DRL (Daytime running lights):
S&S Diversified
I am pleased to say that my vehicle DID have the light green with black tracer wire in socket 13 on connector C270A within the CJB.
I performed the mod with the exception being that I cut the wire and used blade connectors to secure the wires; it allows the length to be kept as well. I also put a blade connector onto the wire from the harness which is tied back just in case the original feed is needed.

For notation if it matters:
My CJB was made in Mexico 04-26-04 (April 26, 2004)
My Vehicle has a MFD of 05/04 - I do not know if this is Canadian, US or Mexico made but I gather the VIN would tell me and it begins with a 1 so I think that is the US.

Hope this helps others and answers some pending questions.
I found it very difficult to pry the wire out of socket 13 so instead of ruining it; I did wire blade connectors.

Hey ASFC27FTFBQ (and others),

I realize you may have ordered the Beamtech's already but I wanted to share my thoughts. I have the Nineo Gen 11 9007 setup and for a midrange budget option they are top notch and rated extremely high on a few sites that tested them. The site that looks like they've put some effort in testing is Bulbfacts - https://www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/chart/

You'll see that Nineo Gen 11 are their top pick for budget options. One of the key things with this bulb and a reflective headlamp is that the LED's are positioned at the same location as the original filament halogen location - which has been engineered to spread the best array of light. I am not affiliated in anyway with Nineo - just a guy who wanted a good price point and best output - I'm happy so far.

In any regard, hope the beamtechs work great for you !

Hi Johntpr,

Yes, in my case with my truck I did have the issue. However i was able to perform the mod i quoted earlier which not only made my fogs work when i wanted them and as a bonus, if i wanted them on at the same time as my high beams.
My feedback was on the LED Nineo Gen II specifically that they seem to be very good (for Me) and also have high reviews.

For those of you that are using the 9007 Beamtech LED bulbs, did you choose the fanless 8000 lumen bulb, or the heatsink base 10,000 lumen bulb? And why? Price looks to be about the same.

Bulbs are going in a 2003 Ford Excursion OEM clear headlight lens.

Thanks

I have a 2001 Excursion and replaced the headlight housing several years ago with cheap aftermarket ones. I recently changed the bulbs to these:
Headlights - 9007/9004: GTR Lighting Ultra 2
Fog Lights - GTR Lighting CSP Mini LED Headlights, 9005 / 9145 Bulbs

Honestly, I am super happy with them. They are double sided LED's and produce an even beam pattern. The beam pattern is not perfect. There are a couple of cool spots, but so much better than stock. I pulled my trailer out to the desert last month. Arrived well after sundown. Much less driving fatigue with the new bulbs.

Good luck
Neil

Just adding to the thread

The Hikari 9008's on Amazon work great in the 2005 Excursion headlight. They are super bright but they are also configured so there is a cutoff on the beam and you don't blind others.

They are the third ones I tried and the beat so far. They have also lasted well over a year so far with no hiccups.

@pele I am considering going this route.
what headlight did you use? Are you happy with the light output?
