Okay let's get right down to business. After giving a lot of thought and other forum user's advice into a 7.3 swap, It's Just not worth the wiring nightmare of a 7.3 swap. So I decided to do what has been a tried and true conversion of a 5.9 cummins instead. so if you are along for the ride I'll show you what all I go through in this process. So we will be working on my 2000 4x4 V10 limited excursion and we will be swapping in a 1997 P-pump (215 HP) 12 valve. The motor mods will remain stock for now just to ensure transmission longevity. The goal is for a nice ride and fuel economy so later down the road I might do some mild governor springs and fuel plate modification for better fuel economy. The other goal is a nice riding daily driver that is as reliable as possible. But first things first the motor needs to be freshened up. the previous owner had a blown head gasket in between the oil galey and the number 6 cylinder witch reduced oil pressure to #6 piston bearing and it failed horribly taking the connecting rod and piston with it. So my machine shop will determine what work on the block and the crankshaft will need to be done. but I'm sure oversized pistons are on the parts list. Below are some pictures of the bearing destruction.
Thanks all who subscribed!! I'm going to go ahead and apologize for any newbie forum mess ups I'm still learning. Anyways as some may already know i have a f-350 donor diesel truck for pars like inter cooler and hydro booster and so on. But it also has sealed beam headlights witch i personally prefer over regular lenses. I plan to buy some truck lite super bright led replacements soon for the swap. But it was pretty simple to pull off. once the headlights are out its only 8, 8mm bolts to remove the entire grill/ headlight support and it comes right out. it helps to remove the AC condenser mount bolts to get clearance to pull it out. but you can pull the entire cross mount to keep from having to deal with re- adjusting all the screws and springs in the mount cups so i just left the mount cups on the cross support. I'm going to clean up the support and paint it flat black with some spray paint tomorrow. and ill post all the pics of what it looks like on the excursion once its done. I also sold a lot of parts of the F-350 this past weekend and out of the parts sold so far I've almost recovered all the money I paid for the whole truck. Parts I've sold so far: 8FT bed, spare tire/wheel, tow mirrors, hood, spare tire hoist.
This weekend I finished complete disassembly of the 5.9 and got the block loaded up and secure. I used some 2x4's and drilled the boards to the block through the oil pan holes to keep the surface from getting damaged on the way to the machine shop. Its almost an hour dive to my machinist so I wrapped it all in plastic if it wants to rain like it has the past couple of weeks on and off. I also finished painting and installing the headlight assemblies and I am really pleased with the results.
Small update;
The machine shop got back with me and had good and bad news. good news is my block and head are perfect. all they did was hone the cylinders, didn't need a sleeve on number 6 like I thought it would. Bad news is the crankshaft is worn 47 thou. on rod journal 6, witch means its toast. so ill be shopping for a crank, a rod, and STD piston. I also have a set of used wheels I just had put on with 35's ill post pictures soon of all the progress.
I don't have a crank or rod, but I'd be willing to bet I have a spare piston or two floating around. I'll check and see if I can find them. If you want them, I could use the space in the garage. They're probably buried.

That would be great! I found a guy selling a crank and a set of rods, so a piston would be all I need.
Okay I have the Motor back home and I found a nice guy on the cummins forum that has a crank he will sell me. So now I am hunting a STD piston and rod/cap. But the block looks great, they dipped it and cleaned it so when I paint it will turn out good. I want to paint it cummins beige and it will aslo match the 2 tone on my truck. But total cost of the machine shop came out just shy of 220 dollars to clean and inspect everything and install a new cam bearing and all new frost plugs and hone the cylinders for me. I would have done that myself but I dont Have the tools to measure the bore and wear on all the pistons and cylinders and I'd much rather be sure they are correct and not have an issue later down the road. I ordered OEM cummins rod and main bearings for 90 dollars and I'm going to buy a complete cummins gasket set for 200 more dollars. Total cost I added up to be about 2,000 dollars and that includes all parts/ machine work and the motor itself. Keep in mind I am doing all the assembly and all the head/valve job myself. The next task on the excursion is rear 30mm sway bar install and I will post many pictures over this weekend.
Hey sorry it took me so long to get to finding these. I'm happy to send 2 of the best ones your way, wrist pins included. Shoot me a PM if you want them.

Thank you for looking into that but a friend that owns a diesel shop had one he gave me, still hunting a connecting rod/ cap. I got a new crankshaft on order says it will be here on the 24th so i anticipate it being late and not seeing it till after the holiday. Thank you though.
A little late but I got a 3 inch suspension lift (new leafs in the front and blocks in the rear) And some new aluminum chrome wheels. The wheels are size 18x10 with -14 offset. they don't scrub at all with 35x12.5's on them, not too much offset either it looks perfect to me. I will take the 30mm rear sway bar off the f350 to correct the little body roll I have on cornering and I will post pics of that process. Also got the Truck lite 5x7 replacements and man o man they are good. worth every penny, by far the best headlights I've seen to date, better than some porches and mercedes I've driven.
