Hows it going guys, new to the thread here, figure since I had good luck on mustang forums before for figuring my dilemmas out.
Any who, so I have a 1961 econoline, i believe with a 144 motor, from what i have gathered. Needs tons of love.
Ive replaced the wheel cylinders, starter, radiator, carburetor, plumbed a missing brake line, and a few other things.
long story short, Can any one point me out to a good urethane leaf spring bushing, and possibly a diagram for the oe linkage.
Tried fabbing up a throttle cable, but its binding a bit.
I am dropping in a 200 hundred I acquired that i went threw and replaced all seals and did some piston ring filing. Since the 144 had no oil pressure to the pedistal rocker assembly.
Thats what Im talking about man! thank you very much!
kinda bent that second pivoting lever that mates to the throttle plate spacer deal. At least now i know for sure which way it should be positioned.
I pretty much bought a random single autolite carburetor. Is their a specific unit unique to the vans that have the throttle actuator set ina matter that only it would work on said van?

much obliged
1961/62 E100's with 144's came with a Holley 1V, Auto-Lite carb wasn't available until 1963. This carb is unique to E100's, probably due to the linkage on the side of the carb. See 9581 in pic.
Where you will find one of these Holley's, I dunno. Where in CA do you live?
Thanks a ND, I live in the central valley, in the 559 area, south of fresno. That linkage does look pretty unique. That makes sense how I couldnt get the autolite carb to line up with the factory linkage correctly.
I finished removing the 144 and dropping in the the 200 in the vehicle, I will see if I can find that holley some how.I do have 2 barrel holleys that I been playing with the idea of installing instead for the 1 barrel. Also have a carburetor adapter for it ordered. Ive had great luck tuning 4 barrel holleys for my 351c. Im certain i can rig up a 2300 to work fine on it, if I can figure a way to get the linkage to actuate accordingly, and granted their is enough space under the dog box.
Ive been messing with mustangs since 16, mainly 65 models, but Ive owned 84s, an 87, and now have a 15 GT.
never owned a truck let alone a van, but Ive wanted an econoline for a while and finally got this one, so Im pretty excited for it. Just need a little guidance and maybe some radical ideas!
If you or any one else that chimes in wants to link some threads, since im sure im asking rhetorical questions of answers that could be found on this forum, Id understand and appreciate it
I know newbies some times go off ona question rampage like me so I wont be offended haha
I know the Central Valley, but don't know of any yards that might have Econolines. At one time, 3 Boys in Madera had 100's of old vehicles as did Romo's Auto Wrecking in Fresno.
Romo's is out of business, 3 Boys is now a pick-a-part yard

The early model Holleys had glass bowls, later changed to metal bowls.
If you search for a carb, your key words should include "glass, bowl, Holley".
There is a forum just for Econolines. Sorry, don't have the web address. But they will be your best source for parts and info.
think your shoes are reversed.a hot topic but most say the short shoe primary is in the front. bob big on back. are you on face book there are alot of Econoline groups. I dont have a photo og my linkage will try to get a photo there is a like 1/4 inch rod out the right side under carb might be in manifold there is a part that goes on that that hooks to the accelerator rod and on to the carb. this is on a few 1964 I have worked on.
don't worry about asking "silly questions"
unlike other places, we are not the "search police" that will tell you "that question was already asked, search for it"
the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Consider replacing the transmission with a 1963-1964 transmission. Should be a direct bolt-in, but will have syncros. See details here Econoline Transmissions
1961 Econolines have thin frames compared to later models. Torque from your 200 should be OK, but keep an eye on frame cracks.
Your rear axle will work with the 200 as long as you don't push it too hard. Econolines had an optional 9" rear axle that will bolt in, but driveshaft will have to be altered. Econoline Axles

Hot topic with who? In the Bendix Duo~Servo design, the "short" shoe always goes to the forward side. It ain't a topic for debate. They simply won't operate correctly any other way. This is "self-energized" drum braking. A quick study of the original design, how they work, and all will be made clear.
thanks, good thing those are the rear, I will have to check out the photos of the fronts, i replaced the springs and wheel cylinders, I just left the shoes as they were, so at some point it might have been set up incorrectly. the van sat abandoned for the most part for a while.
so the engine I threw in is a later 200 and the carb adapter, or carb heater spacer, will not bolt on. Im not 100 percent sure what opening is on it since i havent taken a tape measure to it. but any idea where i might be able to find something to adapt it with to run the same old carb? the head reads E0BE-8090-BB or 8B on the end. Im guessing its out of a fairmont, but was pulled from a 60's mustang.
Ive purchased a 5/16 drive non thermactor dizzy, luckily enough it still runes the 1/4 drive dizzys cap and rotor. Was another one of my hiccups, so basically im stuck with carb adapter issues.
Wish I could just adapt my 2 barrel to single adapter straight to the intake port on the head, instead of jumping threw loops to throw in a single.
