So Install fuel pressure regulator, one of the spring loaded dial type, set it at 2.5 psi, and it flooded again. Im going to switch the ,what was supposed to be new, nitrophyl float in it. It may be soaking up fuel, I will use the brass float this time around. I will also be cleaning all the threaded pieces just incase there is any dope, teflon tape, or crud on there.
I had first only taken out the needle and seat portion, but will now fully break it down , and replace all seals, just incase it has anything weird going on in it. The throttle plate and mainbody would shift on one another it seemed, didnt want to tighten the bolts to hard, but apparently it does require more of a cinch down.
Also the rebuild kit i have came with copper washers for the ported screw that retains the needle and seat/ float, Personally dont really like the idea of copper washers on the flank drive screw, copper needs to be crushed to seal. But I feel like this maynot be the issue, since i made effort to back out, and cinch, back out, cinch a few times to get a proper seal, aswell as cleaning the mating surfaces.
Needle and seat sealing has to be my issue, so the float is the problem.
On another note, I ordered a drag link and installed it on the van, and cleaned and greased everything i could.
MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE, there is almost no slow felt , granted i was feeling it out on the drum. But over all satisfied with the purchase. I also corrected the front brakes shoe orientation as specified. I also got my 2021 tags for the van, and all the door locks working properly. although I think i put the drive on the passenger side fronts and so on.
Inspected the carb thoroughly, all the gaskets were in working order. cleaned up any lose debris, and reassembled the carb.
i then ensured the float was forcing the needle up.
threw the sucker on and it ran fine. the nitrophyl float was either defective or just wasnt designed for this needle and seat, i did notice the tab that slides into the needles base clip, was folded the opposite way in instead of facing the same as the brass floats design. The spring that is installed to the needle seat/ flow bracket also springed the float alot more smoothley aswell.
planned to take it for a drive, since shes tagged and insured, but it started to rain.
still happy as all hell.
i have had mixed results with the composite floats. sometimes the tab is in the rite place, sometimes not...and when not it usually can not be bent to work properly either.
wish it wasnt raining non stop outside, else id take the van for a spin, and also take a couple snaps of the thing so i can post some progress pictures up.
Now i feel better knowing I didnt get ripped off on ebay again, just incorrect part on application, i did toss the nitrophyl float and brass float in a small bowl with gas in it, the both floated fine, and didnt notice them sink or anything. Mustve been the float tab getting snagged or binding.
