can any one provide me with measurements for the rod that goes from the pedal to the box mount lever? part number 9A701 on the linkage diagram. My buddy where my vans stored at, accidentally tossed the rod, so now i need to source one. I figure all thread will do the trick, just gotta know where the bend is and the over all length of the rod.
C1UU-9A701-A .. Rod-Accelerator Shaft to Bellcrank - 58.00" long / Obsolete
1961/62 E100.
See post #31 for the clutch equalizer bar bushings.
Thanks numbersdummy for the assistance, Figure i might as well buy a piece of rod, bend it to shape, and thread it.
I had my friend contact the person I got the van from, he has some spare parts so hopefully he has a spare rod, if not then I will have to fabricate my own, not sure if its a 1/4" rod or 5/16" though. The image does look to appear to have a thicker rod displayed vs the smaller rods that actuate the rest of the linkage.
ordered a parts carb for the econoline in hopes it was in good shape turns out it had a bunch of cracks on the inside, even though I asked ebay seller for truthful information on its condition. He said it was a good core one of the ears was too stressed out and failed when i attempted to flatten the mounting face, by heating and using a table vice and a mallet. most recent photo of the van, still waiting on contact from the gentleman who sold me the van to see if he has any spare parts. probably will purchase a steel rod and attempt some magic with it to make the rod to keep pressing forward.
found this carburetor at famoso durring the march meet, lucky enough it was complete, with a fresh rebuild, but the float adjustment was off and flooded like crazy. I installed a new old stock nitrophyl float, jetted up to 64 from a 61 it had. Also rigged up a linkage rod thanks to the help provided by numbersdumby,
I feel like I should have made the rod a bit longer, but the good thing with metal is you can always weld more to it. The throttle works fine for the most part, Ill try and keep up with photos and updates as I go, the Van is currently at where I stay, so i should be able to do funner things now.
Currently im trying to figure out if there is a known urethane option for the shackle bushings, and leaf spring eyelet. Ive used urethane replacements on other cars, and vs rubber, its just worth the positive ride quality IMO.
I made a parts list and so far im missing the shackle bushings, Ive found some good leaf eyelet bushings, but i am open to the urethane option if available.
the drive was squirlly, and she kept flooding over and bogging down, the pcv hose got disconnected so it ran like crap. But it was fun, and will remain a memorable moment im sure.
McVeigh's Truck Springs knows our Econolines ,and I have never heard of a dissatisfied customer. They have a bushing kit to service the front and rear of our Econolines for $56. Contact them, they will sell you what you need.
tried to drive the van to the gas station to fuel up, but noticed the carburetor continued to flood. on disassembly I noticed that there was thread locker on the seat threads, and found a cracked gasket on the passage bolt that holds the float retainer in place. to top it off among all the investigating i some how managed to lose the needle.. So now I am in the market of a rebuild kit, wouldn't be a bad idea at this point for all the neat surprises ive found inside this little sucker. Plus flooding the oil with gas probably isnt the best either. So an oil change is due now too it seems.
So from the looks of it, the 61 econoline uses different parts than that of the later years, I was hoping to just get shackle bushings but they are selling the whole set together. My work gives me a decent discount on the eyelet bushings. But if this is the only option out there it is what it is.
Can anyone confirm that the 61 model year only uses a specific kit, or know of a urethane option I can check out? Also any word on a carburetor rebuild kit for the 61 econoline holley single carburetor?
Its wild how a simple drive to the gas station around the corner can lead to such a mess.
carb keeps flooding , has anyone ran into an issue using the stock 61 econoline fuel pump? I tried putting a gauge to get a accurate reading, but the needle would just pulse from 1 to 3 psi, and makes the carb flood. replaced needle and seat, cleaned seals, verified it would close several times, but still flooding.
Did these early econoline have to run a fuel pressure regulator? I have 2 at my disposal, but one is a brand new return type i planned for later use, and have no found anyhting about being able to plug its return port safely.
My other blocking, or non return regulator is currently in opperation on my other car.
