Thumbs up Another SXE Project/Install

How do I start my own thread? I started my SXE project yesterday and have a couple pics to post.

Moderator (Sous) Comment: I moved this thread starting post from https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...?highlight=sxe

Maybe with only 10 posts you can't start a new thread? But the option should be available at the upper left of the section home page.

@limatw50 , I simply moved your post to a new thread, which in turn created your own thread.

If you are not happy with the title of the thread, I can change it for you or you can change it by editing the post, then selecting advanced.

We are looking forward to your progress and pictures of the install!

Limatw50's install

I'm done hunting for a little bit so I have some time to finally start my install before my next hunting trip. Got the old turbo out yesterday.

Lots of stuff now it's time to remove the down pipe.

Down pipe

It's nice having access to a garage and lift.

Its nice having access to a garage and lift but finding tools in a friends garage is tuff and time consuming sometimes.

I cut the old down pipe and it slid down easy once unbolted

I drilled a hole in the remaining piece and bolted a piece of metal to have something to bang on. This was definitely not fun but I got it out finally. 😫😖

I wonder how close the new down pipe will mate up? I saw Sous modification and others as well.

Titanium wrapped both the up and some of the down pipe.

Mounted in a vise and clocked the turbo.

Now take it all apart so I can spray the titanium wrap with high temperature silicone spray as advised in the wrap instructions.

No place to mount this on the new Y so what have others done with this?

And this also?

The thing with red/green lines is waste gate solenoid, it goes in the trash as you no longer have a waste gate. The other thing maybe is the air intake heater? Don’t know what to do with it as my E99 didn’t have one to start with.

Thanks for info on the waste gate solenoid. And now I know what the air intake heater plug is after I googled it and people are deleting it so thats what I'll do also.

I'm glad it's not needed because I really didn't want to drill and tap my new Y.

Just cut a wrench to make a stubby to tighten top nuts on turbo.

Room to spare even with the wrap on both up and down pipes.

All I think I'm going to need is a 3.5 ID to 4" OD exhaust adapter. CSD definitely corrected the alignment issue. I wish I would have ask CSD to include one. There's probably 20 muffler shops in Las Vegas I can walk in and get it but not on a Sunday.🤦*♂️
