That picture of the boot looks familiar! After this happened the first time, I put it back on. It blew right off next time, only a few miles from home. Now I know I’m not the only one that had a problem there. Keep us updated!!

Leave that boot loose on the IC tube and clamp tight once square and fully seated on the turbo then clamp on the IC tube wherever that is also leave the other end of the IC tube at the intercooler loose and tighten that connection last.. But yes, a better boot is good.

Bought all six new boots. I can't believe I tried using the 18 year old boots. I recommend anyone doing this project if you've never replaced or upgraded buy new. 😉 I bought HPS boots from Amazon to get them quick and they are great quality. No more issues on little test runs.

Tomorrow I leave for my next long camp/hunt trip. Anyone ever use the jelibuilt?

I already have jelibuilt hydra tunes to run my AC code injectors. Has anyone ever tried them with the SXE/T4 or is everyone using the 1023 ? I'm going to start with #5 and see how it goes. I only used the tow and daily driver before the SXE/T4 set up.

I run a Jelibuilt Daily Driver tune with my S366 and it is a good match for everything I do. In fact it is the only tune I have programmed.

So you tow with it also?

Yes, wanted a single tune that was good for everything without switching back and forth. Low EGTs, low smoke, pulls good through the gears, and good shift points.

Thanks for the reply and the info is making me feel good about this trip. I will start out in daily driver and maybe half way there try #5 and see the difference.

I have stock AD injectors and used to run 1023 tunes with my modified stock turbo. After the SXE, I run a PHP 65 HP Performance tune for everything.

This is the tune I use for normal driving or towing 12,000 lbs of 5th wheel.

1 tune that does everything, and does it very well...

I can see why guys with a T4 kit and say larger injectors that build north of 400HP would want maybe a daily tune and tow tune especially when towing heavy, not necessarily for heat reasons but for durability.. certainly a truck with 450 RWHP and towing 10,000lbs is at far greater risk of breaking something VS say 350RWHP.

Kyle, I agree with you 100%.

I was dead set on 160/80 injectors for the future, but after towing thousands of miles with the SXE on a hot street tune, no longer...

I "might" go with 160/0 one day, but probably not...

I will more than likely just get new, fresh AD injectors and be happy because the truck runs like a champ and very cool without using any sort of towing tune. I have a ZF6 though, so I don't care about the shifting strategies that 4R100 owners contemplate.

Bottom line is that the SXE turned my 255,000 mile injectors and engine into a powerful, reliable, cool running (EGT wise), grade conquering truck that runs better now than it did 20 years ago next month.

And I can offer to you that a truck with custom / built trans at least mine with billet triple disk TC acts way differently than a stock.4r100. And after going from canned tunes to 1023, to SDK to jelibuilt with many revisions in between tuning plays a large role in how you may enjoy how your truck drives.. likely ever more so for an auto over a manual..

Now that I have the trans i plan on BW366 and NEW 238/80 injectors and at least 2 tunes..

Kyle

I agree with you again. The bigger injectors do well for a lot of truck owner's when running the SXE. They know their trucks and the components in and under it.

I am more than happy with my AD injectors and don't want to mess with a good thing. My good thing is not the same as someone else's and I encourage them to seek that in their truck.

I went from hoping it was all true to seeing and believing/knowing firsthand!

My truck is unbelievable and I wish I had did the SXE/T4 project 10 years ago. Yes I'm only pulling an 18 ft toy hauler loaded down but the same hills that made me down shift to stay under 1250 EGT I now can set cruise control at 65 mph and the truck just pulled right up without down shifting and as the boost increased the EGTs leveled out or even decreased. I did not hit 1250 one time on the entire trip 475 miles one way so well over 1000 round trip.
I do have a slight vibration from the down pipe with wrap touching the fire wall at start up and under load at certain rpms. That will be addressed/fixed before my ice fishing trip 17-24 January.
Here's a couple pictures of my last three hunts. A cow elk, mule deer and the trip I just returned from I drew a spike bull only tag way up north near Idaho/Nevada boarder.

Cow elk from October.

Cow on hoist.

Cow in the freezer.

My mule deer from last month.

My spike bull from this recent trip.
