I have the V-10 in my 2016 MH with only 9,000 miles and while coming back from a recent trip the check engine light came on. Normal driving (55-60) on a straight Hi-way.
When I got home I checked the error code and it said P0300 Random Misfire Detected.
The motor seems to be running fine, just the light is on...
Any Ideas?? Should I take it to the dealer (not easy with a 34' MH), Some suggestions have been to reset the code and see if it comes back.
Also when I first pulled over to check everything out, fluids etc I noticed about a 1/3 of the way up the oil dipstick (Very long dipstick about 3'), about 3" long of what appears to be a burnt oil residue on the stick, is this normal??
If it's under warranty (and it should be), definitely bring it to the dealer. That burnt residue, does it seem to be around where the dipstick tube goes past the exhaust manifold? Not that it should happen, just curious.
Yea thats kinda what I was thinking. Had it changed at 5K with what was specified.
But that not my real issue the code is what Im trying to find out more about before driving a big motorhome to the dealer....

Clear the code, throw some injector cleaner in it, and then beat the ***** off it on the highway.
Usually, on the 2-valve motors, a random misfire is a vacuum leak which is usually caused by the PCV elbow at the throttle body. On the 3-valvers, though, haven't heard of any vacuum leaks.
I had a 5.4l 3v and it had the same 'burnt oil' on the dipstick, I have a 6.8l 3v and it too has the same 'burnt oil' on the dipstick, both instances it's where the dip stick passes close to the exhaust manifold. I don't have anything to offer on the code. It sounds like Krewat has that covered.
What I have found lately both with my 2000 V10 and now my 6.2 is when I'm pulling if I'm using cheap gas I will get the same thing but in the with the 6.2 the light clears faster. I'm using nothing but top tier gas now and I get better mileage and improved performance and no misfires. The ones I stay away from are Sunoco, HEB, Fry's and none brand specific Flying J and Pilot just to name a few.
If your not running them hard about any gas will work but in a motorhome that's not a option.
