Help please.

So I have a cracked piston in my 92 f150 with a 4.9. Found a motor I'm thinking of buying and it's a 4.9 but has a manual transmission. My question is what will I need to do to put the new motor in my automatic truck. Have never done this before.

swap the manual flywheel for the automatic flexplate, and it should bolt right up. I can't 100% confirm that the crankshaft bolt patterns are the same for automatic and manual (in the past they were all the same-newer engines not so much). Otherwise it should work the same.

Swap the starter along with the flex plate.
The starter for the manual flywheel has a different reach than the starter for the automatic flexplate.

Remove the pilot bearing from the rear of the crankshaft. With an automatic it is not used. There are youtube videos on how to do this.

why?
If he has an auto and he takes his flex plate and bolts it to the new motor he does not need to do anything with the starter.

Good call as the converter may not go in all the way and an kill the front pump in the trsny.

Check oil pan sump & pickup between the 2 motors and swap as needed.

The starter from the old engine needs to be used on the new engine.

I got a parts engine and misc stuff from an friend. In the parts was a spacer plate/shim (?) for between the engine and auto transmission. It's really thin so I've wondered if it is really needed or if it was only for specific years.

So the engine I bought is out of a 96. Now the question is what do I have to do to install it in my 92
