Starter Issues transmission swap

I have done a automatic to manual transmission swap on a 1995 ford F150 351w m5od and was wondering if there is any difference in the starters? I tried using the automatic starter and when I rolled the motor over by hand it seems there is contact between the flywheel and starter.
What is the proper nose height depth and offset I need for this application?

Not for sure but you may wish you hadn't pour that M5od behind the 351.

Yep, manual starters are a little different than automatics, it's usually all in the "nose cone" the pinion gears sits a little deeper in one or the other.. I don't recall which one is deeper right now.

You will have to use the starter from the donor (if you have one) or get one for the manual at your favorite parts store.

You will have to get a manual trans starter or take the nose cone off a manual trans starter and put it on the auto trans starter.A manual trans starter has a little bit longer nose cone
