The driver's side visor on my 1986 F150 is tight when rotating but sags from left to right. I tried bending the part of the support rod shown in the attached photo but the issue seems to be the support rod bracket that mounts to the cab roof. I unbolted the support bracket from the cab roof but could not see a way to increase the tension provided by the spring on the rod end that fits up into the roof of the cab. LMC Truck offers a black visor #49-5135-BL for $49.95 which you have to paint ($16.95) as well as having to purchase a separate sun visor bracket #49-5118 for $16.95. Seems like a lot of money just to get the rod to stand straight rather than sagging Any suggestions? Thank you.
tgun, Some owners with the same problem find later visors from 1987 and up to 1992(?). Ford recognized the problem you are experiencing and fixed it by adding clips at the ends of the visors. These were located near the mirror.
Look for some of the desired color. They can be found in junkyards and on eBay. They are the same in F150s, F250s and F350s as well as Broncos.

Magnet in the headliner and magnet on the visor, it would take some fab work but be nice. or check out some junk yards for the brackets.
A quick fix would be a strip of Velcro. You would never see it when the visor is up and can be pull away to drop it down when needed.
Should work till you find a set like in the post below.
Side note, my truck had a storage rack that used the visor mounts to hold it to the roof and the visors then bolted to it.
Well I guess they also sagged as they had a strip of Velcro around the visor & storage rack to hold them up in place.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will try to check some junkyards for replacements.

Had previously removed the bracket, unfolded the petals that held the bracket spring in place, added a spring, semi-crimped the unfolded petals together, and reassembled by threading a sheet metal screw into the re-folded petals. I removed the bracket from the headliner, disassembled my previously assembled attempt, supported the portion of the rod that runs through the visor with 1x2's clamped in a vise then used a large pair of needle-nose vice-grip pliers to grip the portion of the rod that goes through the bracket and bend it into a sharper angle to effectively raise the visor closer to the headliner. Reassembled the unit and put it back in the truck. Looks like this:
Don't know if it will last but at least it is no longer in my line of vision.
I upgraded mine to the 1987-1996 style and I love the upgrade. I think it took me a grand total of 20 minutes to drill the extra two holes and remove the old ones and mount the new. In my mind its a worth while upgrade if you can do it.
I used JB Weld to permanently tighten up the connection at the door post bracket. Don't recall exactly how I did it but built up the interior part of the rod, but still allowing it to rotate and swivel. Been working great for many years now.

Thanks for that tip as I think I may have to deal with this on mine when I go to install them again.

Had the same issue on my newly acquired 86 f150. They were hanging in front of the windshield.
I did the same thing as tgun. Clamped the whole visor into a vice, then used some channel locks to grab onto the metal spring and rod and bent them another 12 degrees or so. It worked great and the visors aren't sagging anymore. Hooray!
