I went with Dennis Carpenter. Pleased with the quality and their shipping was far less than others.

Did these trucks have headliner with rods? Mine are missing. I'm keen also, to hear what others suggest...

The rod that fits through the bracket on the cab roof was missing, as was the bracket. However, the installer made rods and installed without the bracket.

If you mean a fabric headliner with support rods, no. They had a hardboard headliner.

There are aftermarket options including hardboard, one piece plastic, and fabric with rods. The plastic headliners can be covered with fabric. You can do some pretty cool foam sculpting with the plastic as well.

Besides Dennis Carpenter, who are some other manufacturers, say for the plastic or fabric headliners. I have a 48 F1.

For a '48 you should also check with Classic Haulers.

The type you have in the picture is it hardboard, one piece plastic or fabric with rods?

The one in the picture is one piece plastic with foam sculpting and covered with cloth.

Mine was from Carpenter. It is the hardboard version just like the original. I like the look. Shipping was high due to the over-size freight charges and nearly matched the kit cost.

Ok'
It appears the one piece plastic the cloth still needs added and glued to the plastic.
Does the hardboard come with the cloth already attached are does it need glued also.
Does the hardboard version require any clips or rubber gaskets?

The hardboard version from DC doesn't require any assembly. It is held in place with a few screws along the door frame and usually one into the factory clip in the center of the cab roof. The fit on mine was great and didn't need the center fastener. Unlike the wrestling matches that the other materials seem to trigger, I was able in install mine alone in a few minutes.

The hardboard version is just hardboard. On the '53-'56 it does require the rubber gasket which is held on by metal clips. There are three screws into the brace in the center of the cab.

Mid Fifty has the hardboard, plastic to match the hardboard, fitted plastic, and the suspended fabric versions:
Search - Mid Fifty F-100 Parts

Shipping is a little high on the hardboard and plastic because of their size.

I bought mine from Sac Vintage Ford on sale, but it's made by DC. Shipping costs are greatly reduced because they've figured how to roll them to fit a box, no damage from the rolling (shipping was only $45 IIRC). Like FortyNiner says, installing the main section in a BonusBuilt takes 5 minutes, installing the parts around the window and gas tank is more work. Amazing the difference it makes!
