That is true, but I have not checked into it. Maybe I should.

There is a member on this forum, who post on other subforums, who seems like he is very active with Native affairs. He may have some pointers for you. I can't remember his screen name. But he used to post all sorts of things that were related to Native Americans. Probably can find some of those posts in the non-truck area of the forum.
We have a couple of friends who live up near Mariposa. They call themselves "FBI", for Full Blooded Indian. Ten or fifteen years ago, we hit & killed a deer down in the south skyline region. We parked as soon as we could, and I went back and pulled the carcass off the road. They happened to come up to visit us the next day, and when we told them about it, they were upset we hadn't chopped off the hooves. They wanted the hooves for some ceremony or something.
Happy salty Saturday Nor Cal. I am fine. I think I posted on here that my grand kids were taken by CPS over a month ago. Well, a week ago Friday, my 12 year old daughter ran away from the foster home. She was found walking the streets near her old apartment safe and sound this past Tuesday. She refused to tell anyone where she had been for those 4 days. On Thursday, my daughter had a visitation with all of her kids, but is restricted from talking about the case. So I guess we will never know where she was until the kids are returned and we ask her. Nobody else was allowed to visit. So, now I am going to try and find out how to get on the visitation list so I can see them too.
Not much of an indigenous cultural presence in The Bay Area. Penny slots don't count. I wish there were some sort of venue where you could experience native food, drink, dance, history, et cetera. If there is, I haven't been there. Not even the Indian casinos have a room where native culture is offered.
I don’t know how good it is any more, but there used to be a decent museum up in Novato (Miwok Park?) that was dedicated to the natives. Also the state park between Novato and Petaluma was supposed to be pretty good too.
they just had the Stillwater Pow-Wow here in Redding the weekend before last. Also one of the local tribes was preparing salmon at the Return of the Salmon festival at the Coleman Fish Hatchery in Anderson.
In San Francisco, there is a group, I think they are suppose to be a tribe, but I'm not sure if they are actually from San Francisco. Nobody hears from them, as an organization, except for on Columbus Day. They hold a protest every year demanding that the Federal Government give them Alcatraz as their tribal land. And as far back as I can remember, different people have talked about a casino on Alcatraz. With so much diversity in San Francisco, I would like to see more of a cultural presence.
