If only PGE would have spent tax payers money for lineage , power poles and anti Sway bars , instead of brand New Ford 550,and other Equimpment , we all wouldn’t be in this power shut off , They are Affraid of another law suit , thus the main reason for the shut off, is it only me that noticed back when PGE went threw the 1st bankruptcy years ago , They bought new Trucks and Equimpment then too , then after the Carr and campfire all of their Trucks turned a Different blue.
well anyway Nothing will Ever get done with the Forest clean up , so I’m guessing this will be the New Norm.
The executive bonuses in the millions should have been spent on Improvement & maintenance.
Even in bankruptcy, they want to pay themselves bonuses. A reward for failures. As they are trying to protect themselves from damage claims. Imagine if your property was lost, your claim is rejected, but dozens of executives are paid bonuses in the millions.
Our power went off at 11PM last night. We slept in peace and quiet and extra-dark because all the little helpful lights on various things were off.
Cranked up the genny this morning, and our first casualty for the day is one of the windings on our generator blew out. I flipped off the breakers for all the 220 volt stuff (mainly well pump and pressure pump), then moved a couple of broadband things from the dead phase to the good phase. Limping along now, except that I am wondering if our generator can be repaired.
Generator was OK. I'd accidentally forgotten to switch off the hot tub (220 volts, 50 amps). It had tripped the breaker on one of the phases when the hot tub kicked on. So I turned off the kill switch for the hot tub, reset the breaker, and we're all good.
Power is still off this morning. The "new" PGE status page is working now (http://critweb-outage.pgealerts.com/). It says our power is expected back at 11 PM tonight. I'll believe it when I see it.
Power came back around noon yesterday; 11 hours ahead of "schedule". That made our outage approximately 36 hours. I believe the whole PSPS thing was a publicity stunt by PG&E to get legislation to protect them from future "accidents".
