The end of a mini heat spell is coming on Tuesday.
The end of the heat is near.
After a weekend of balmy weather, the National Weather Service forecasts slightly cooler temperatures at the coast on Monday and more widespread cooling on Tuesday.
I think we all agree that it's time to end the PG&E monopoly. Utilities should be a public service. Not a for profit enterprise for corporate executives to pay themselves millions in bonuses. I feel that way about waste disposal, sewage, transportation, water, gas, electricity, telecommunication, fire protection, peace keeping, education, and healthcare. But then again, those kinds of views border on socialism. Almost as if public safety, utilities, telecom, education, and healthcare are public entitlements that we should all have. Garbage should be picked up and streets cleaned, regardless of socio-economic conditions. I even think that buses should be free to the public, operated by government, and available 24 hours with full coverage. If buses all ran around the clock like in NYC, then everyone could get anywhere, at any hour of the day. If buses, BART, trains, et cetera, were free, then more people would ride and there would be less traffic. But that's enough of me sounding like a communist. I don't want one of you guys to come to my house in the middle of the night, and plaster my car's windshield with Vote for Bernie Sanders bumper stickers.

I have always believed that BART (the transit system) would not be 100% successful until (1) it circles the entire Bay Area, and (2) ran 24x7.
We have gone to events in Oakland by car because BART turned into a pumpkin at midnight. That just does not make sense.
The initial hurdles from the 60's should no longer be a roadblock. Marin needs to be a part of the system. The Fantasy North line could connect up to the SMART system. BART of the Future Richmond line should reach Fairfield. Dublin line should go to connect to the Altamont Commuter Express at Livermore. Fremont line now to SJ Berryessa should connect to Diridon Station. Pittsburgh Antioch could extend to Brentwood, and eventually Stockton, to connect ACE train. Maybe even a line down The Coast to Santa Cruz.

Now if we could only get politics out of the way.
When the $$$ required includes the word "billions", people get a bit queasy. OTOH, if they all sit in gridlock for a few years, maybe they might think differently.
Interestingly, the electrification of the peninsula portion of Caltrain supposedly will allow a quick switch-over to BART service. That would be a major win.
Surely there are always varying outlooks. Differences in opinion create diversity. Diversity can also be divisive. The history of mankind has been driven by such differences in opinion.
