I’ve tried searching and can’t seem to find an answer for my problem I have an 2005 F250 with the 6.0. I was about 400 miles into my 500 mile trip when my speedometer dropped to 0. No lights came on truck didn’t run different or make any noticeable changes. My tuner was showing the P0500 vss sensor failed. I replaced the sensor in the rear end and nothing changed but now it’s also showing the P0500 and P0720 output sensor fail. I replaced that and still nothing changed. I bought two more sensor both OEM to replace them one more time. Does anyone know what the likelyhood of the cluster being bad is? The truck is running and shifting fine. So it leaves me to think the sensors are working fine.
Yes and please don't throw parts at the problem --- all you're doing is feeding the OUT OF CONTROL, CHITTY aftermarket parts jokers from the Advance Joke Autos, AutoMoans, etc of the world. I'm not quite there (below) yet with these clowns, but I'm close:
Yes the wiring seems fine. I inspected the plug and the wires all the way up to the main bundle all looks like it’s in good shape.... this has me baffled as the odometer and speedometer are the only things not working. Transmission is shifting like normal

What was the resistance of each of the wires from the VSS connector to the PCM connector?

I know! A bad cluster can't set either of these codes. The cluster isn't the problem.
Since he is reading codes with a tuner, I have little faith in it being thorough or even accurate, or if possibly the problems w/ the VSS and OSS were resolved and those codes haven't cleared yet. That is the only room for doubt in my mind. But thank you for the definitive answer.
Update for tonight got the vss code to go away now I’m left with the OSS code replacing it in the morning when the parts store gets it’s. Hopefully that’s the problem.
ABS Module -- it provides speed input to all your sys and the separate path to the cluster (GY/BK) should be back-probed......plus a large number of scanners "punt" on ABS............so they either don't support or garbage things up with not to be believed "data"
Cluster Microprocessor
Wiring generally (the source of many problems in older vehicles)
Another update replaced the OSS this morning unplugged batteries to reset truck. And now I’m getting no codes but speedometer still not working. Transmission still working like it should. Going to test the gauge cluster later this week.
