85 300 inline 6 wire help

I am getting so close on getting my truck back together after 3 years. I am trying to find out if this is a ground before I bolt it to the block and fry something. The wire with the outlet with the wire for the oil pressure sensor and temp sensor. Any help would be grate.

All ground wires are black. What color is that wire? Can you unwind the tape to get a part of that wire that is not as faded?

How close is it to the alternator? Does it reach?
If so, it could be the White w/black STA (stator) wire for the electric choke. Or if it's Orange it would be the Field wire, also to the alternator.

Otherwise I agree it's not supposed to be a factory ground, or it'd be Black like Franklin said. But it sure looks like it spent it's life outside and exposed, which is what made me think of the back of the alternator.
Either of those wires would have had a rubber boot to protect it originally, but they take a real beating out there and often disappear. Surprised so many of them last as long as they do actually.

It looks like it is orange originally. It was tapped up with the oil pressure sensor and temp sensor wire. It does not reach to the alternator those wire are all ready hooked up. It only reaches to the back left of the block after plugging in the oil pressure senser. With the key on there is no power on it and it does not light put a test light if used as a ground

Can't find it. Looking at the picture below, you would think it would be G208. That is a ground in that area. But if you look at the diagram below, in the lower left part of the diagram you can see G208 is a ground wire that goes to the frame and is black.

I also thought it might be for the trailer aux battery solenoid, but no orange wires in that circuit, they are yellow.

My 81's I am sure did not have that wire with the eyelet on it.
The other 2 wires I am sure you know where they go as you said "with them plugged in this wire did not reach" but just in case the 1 with the plastic cover goes around the rear of the motor to the temp sender on the right rear of the motor kind of under the intake.
The other goes on the left side of the motor to the oil sender.

Sorry cant be more help
