Hiyo Silver!! Away!!
Old Time Radio ABN
I think these guys play the Lone Ranger on Saturdays. Or maybe that's Superman. I like Gunsmoke (they stiffed William Conrad, and Parley Baer, none of the radio cast made the switch to the Television show) Dragnet, Johnny Dollar, Nightwatch, and a few others.
I've noticed Howard McNear, who played Floyd the barber on Andy Griffith was a big radio supporting cast member. If you listen to any of the old time popular radio show episodes he is very likely to be in it, they must have kept him really busy. Parley Baer, Sam Edwards, Harry Bartell, Herb Butterfield and just a few other guys were in most of the radio programs. The link I posted plays them 24/7, some going back to the 1930s.

William Conrad co-starred in the 1949 MGM flick Any Number Can Play with Clark Gable, later starred in the Cannon TV show, driving a Continental Mark IV
Parley Baer was a very successful character actor, appeared in films, TV, also on radio.
Jack Webb played Sgt. Joe Friday on radio and TV. Original TV co-star was Ben Alexander, a former child actor who owned several Ford dealerships.
When Webb revised the show, calling it Dragnet 1967, Harry Morgan replaced Alexander.

That's why a lot of 'em are still around to be listened to today, in fact. They would make transcription discs and mail them "over there" to be played for the troopies on AFRTS. Normally none of that stuff was recorded or saved. I like them because they don't have commercials. Well, at least not modern commercials anyway. Just Autolite and Rio Grande cracked gasoline, Signal gasoline, Camel cigarettes, etc. (We were a better country when ciggies could advertise, and lawyers couldn't, imo.)
