Hi all !
First post here, looks like some friendly folks with alot of knowledge (nalege).
Just bought a 1970 F150 with a 302 & C4. I have owned others before, but, never a 302.
The truck has a low speed miss but runs well as you accelerate. If you let the truck just ease along and don't accelerate it bucks slightly as you hold the gas pedal steady. It idles OK but the choke dosn't work and it is 'cold blooded'.
I think I need a new or re-con 2 bbl Carb.
Where is the best place to get one?
It has a Unilite Electronic Disributor, where can I get replacement cap and rotor from?
I look forward to helping and being helped as I get this thing going right.
Hey usdart, welcome to the site, I had that same problem a while back and just did a carb rebuild and reset the timing. Now it runs great, try that and see what happens. A carb rebuild is alot cheaper that a carb replacement.
Your hesitation problem lies with the pesky accelerator pump diaphram and check valve. It's located on the front of the carb behind a squarish 4 bolt plate with a lever. When removing the diaphram, take caution...there's a coil spring behind it. The check valve fits behind the acc pump diaphram spring in the carb body.
Coil spring behind the Accel pump!!. There's not one behind mine. I rebuilt the carb and there wasn't one there to begin with so I put in the new one without it. Then I replaced it again later for other reasons and there's still not one behind it. That spring is something no one has ever mentioned. Hey Number, where can I get this spring?
