I know it *shouldn't* be difficult, but every time I've searched I find different answers on where the module is and how to see the code on it. While messing with my PATS issue earlier I decided to finally pull my code and did a short video to maybe help the next guy.
didn't watch the video, when I was trying to figure mine out a few years ago I found out my local dealer reads them for free. hard to beat free from a dealer.
edit: watched. your video for sure won't work for my2000, it isn't printed on the GEM module.
I can confirm it's not printed anywhere on the 2000, but this is good info for the later years. I was able to get mine by punching in all the possible combos, probably took 20 or 30 minutes before I hit the right one.

I've got a friend that spent 20 years as a Ford mechanic and though he's changed jobs, still maintains the software license for the Ford analyzer. I got him to read the codes when I bought mine.
I'm sure he'd read the keycode for anyone, but you have to drive to Florida and you have to buy the first beer.
