I hope your service manager it talking out his **** about an engine he has seen, drove or worked on yet.
Gasoline engine MPG are predictable. Takes energy to move weight.. No way around it. I’m sure there is no sudden whiz-bang N/A fuel mileage improvement technology here, and if there were, it wouldn’t be benefiting from an aerodynamic brick like a HD truck.
It’s a big truck made to move big weight. Expect very poor mileage, and anything better than poor is a plus..
Still a better choice than the 6.2L.
Meep in mind the service manager is motivated that you not buy the 7.3L. Hypothetically think of the revenue of a shop servicing 3 dozen diesels or 3 dozen 7 3Ls. What's an oil change cost. Diesel fuel filter changes etc... its a significant difference.

George,
you are absolutely correct, it takes energy to move weight.
i am more speaking to how efficiently we move that weight.
The new 7.3 and the 10 speed coupled with 3.55 rear could be more efficient. After all we do get a slightly better overdrive. We also have some weight savings over an old Dodge or GM.

As a service manager this is correct.
As a sales guy it is almost a &10k upsell !
Just seen the the 2020 super duty is up and running on the Ford website..
Also my F450 was built last Friday and is already on the train heading to Kelderman. Christmas is coming early this year.
Nice, I just checked inventory within 100mi. radius, came back with 67 2020 Super Duty's. I have to assume they are all in transit, or maybe just on order.

YOU THINK? Maybe HOPE because I just sent my posse from the ranch to intercept that train and bring that 450 down here to Texas where it belongs...but don't worry...WHEN EVER my 450 gets built I will send it to you.

Jess, I don't recall, did you opt for front and rear? The high tech ( and pricey) all electronic?
And do you have the drop code for Kelderman?
When I order I was planing on drop shipping to Utility Bodywerks, but we are moving out of state now and I have to see how the new taxes are going to work.

Yes the front and rear air with the electric system.
You can call Kelderman to get the drop ship number for your order.

My dealer just informed me that we have a VIN and a build week date of Dec 16. Does anyone know what the typical delivery time is? This one is going to San Jose, CA.
Also is there a web site where you can check progress on a VIN number?
It’s probably just a glitch, but maybe someone here can tell me why nadaguides.com won’t let me combine certain options in my build, when Ford.com build & price does allow them. I sent mass emails to dealers requesting quotes, so I can order a truck before my PCO expires 1/2. Some of the dealers’ preview order summaries had some options omitted, too. Those appear to have been errors by whoever inputted my build. A few of the replies had preview order summaries that were exactly like the pdf build from the Ford site I sent them. One of the errors, if it is one, my build had front & rear wheel well liners, while the dealers’ preview only included fronts. That one had me wondering if some trims come with the rears standard, & fronts are the only option? Let me describe my build, and then the conflicts on nadaguides.com
2020 F-350 4x4 CCSB SRW 7.3L EL 4.30 Lariat Ultimate, console frt seats, 18” AT tires, pro trailer backup assist, 5th wheel/gooseneck hitch prep pkg., camper pkg., adaptive steering, wiper de-icer, pwr. Running boards, quad LED head/tail lights, led roof clearance lights, frt & rr wheel well liners, adaptive cruise ctrl. & collision warning, upfitter switches, ext. backup alarm.
When I added the upfitters after the backup alarm, the build changed the 397A alternator to 240A, kept the dual batteries, the tires changed from 18” AT to 18” AS, and the rear changed to EL w/3.73, which is standard w the 7.3L.
A couple of the dealers’ preview orders also left off the 4.30s, which makes me think something is in conflict. Still, the Ford.com build & price accepted all of the options above. Obviously, my configuration attempts to maximize payload & towing (as much as possible w/ SB) hence the 4.30s & AT tires.
Also, do you all think adaptive cruise is worthwhile, since the cruise control already comes with collision warning & brake assist? Seems the only difference is ability to set following distance, where the radar tells the cruise to slow the truck down when the vehicle in front slows, closing the safe following distance, then speeds the truck back up when the vehicle in front speeds up again.
Thanks for reading.
