Awesome video ! What was that like 3 months ? Pains me to think how inept I have been with my Highboy, but seeing rebuilds like yours keeps me motivated. Good work, brought one back to life.
Went by dmv and got tags and drove it to work Friday. The old bias ply tires ride better than I expected and they haven’t been balanced yet. They are noisy but ride smooth and handle decent, impressed so far.
Went to a car show today about a 40 mile round trip. Truck preformed well but lost power and stalled on the way back. I took the fuel line loose under cab and no fuel came out. I blew into fuel line back to tank and fuel started flowing again. I must have some trash in the tank plugging the pickup tube. Also picked up a exhaust leak on the way back one of the collector gaskets is leaking. Other than a few small problems truck ran great.
The power steering ram is leaking a small amount and shaft is rusty from sitting. I have checked out blue tops web site and will get them to rebuild it for me.
Right on, good chance those bias tires wont balance, and im having the same problem with my behind the seat tank, its got junk in it, whats that guy got an engine hoist attachment !
That would be a great shot for the POV thread. Keep everyone guessing on that one.
Jakeharp is right, those tires could be tough to balance. And IF I remember correctly because they're split rims all the weights have to go on the inside.
Tow tractor to the rescue New pick up tube 1/2 in pipe fitting installed into tank I drilled and taped tank for 1/2 npt.
After having to blow out pickup tube ten times in the side of the road I fixed it for good. I installed a new a new 3/8 pickup tube with screen on the bottom.
Did the original not have a sock filter on it in the tank? Did they all come that way? The filter was in use at least by the early sixties, so figure that most vehicles had them
If the tank is that gunked up, might be moving up on your list of things to do. Or not, since your new plumbing job seems to have done the trick!
