I have a 2018 f350 drw. I’ve had the truck about 3/4 of a year. I am fighting a leak somewhere in the wheel or the valve stem of 1 (currently front pass.) of my tires/wheels. I’ve taken it to Ford 3-4 times now and they keep telling me it’s the valve stem. 1 tech told me it was the valve stem seat and it wasn’t seating all the way previously. So the last time it was “fixed” everything was good for about 2-3 weeks and then I started losing pressure slowly again. Has anybody ever dealt with this issue? I know valve stem and tire pressure sensors are warranty related... but, are the wheels under warranty as well? If not what is the best course of action if I’m to attempt to fix myself or someone else?... or just replace the whole shabang (wheel tire stem sensor etc)
further info as as far as rate of leakage- I lose 10lbs over the course of 3-4weeks
I've seen threads on this issue, it's a common problem but since I dont have DRW I didn't pay much attention. But search & you will find a bunch of info on this. & good luck!
Lots of people have complained about leaky valve stems. I dont ever remember seeing a permanent fix, seems like a coupe guys just keep taking it back under warranty.
Yep, I have a 350 dually. 3 of my rims have been replaced. Same problem. It's an issue with corrosion from the metal valve stems and aluminum rims. They have replaced all 3 rims and valve stems under warranty without question. Many people having this issue. On one rim I was losing about 20 lbs a day. I guarantee you will eventually start having some issues with your other rims. My first one started about a year in ownership, the second about 3 months later, and the last one was about 18 months in (2017 model).
It sounds like the dissimilar metals are the root cause of the problem. Perhaps brass would be a better option for aluminum wheels where the stems seat... but sealed with an o-ring
