Glad it worked out for you. Just so others are aware, I found my truck one night with the horn moaning like an elephant in heat, I had to disconnect the battery to stop it and the next day my cruise and horn were gone.
I replaced the clock spring but it did nothing and then replaced the airbag and now it works.
Be aware as 4wheelexcursion mentioned the clock springs apparantly are no longer to be found and the airbags as well.
Glad we're all up and running!
I’m in need of a clock spring and as stated they are nowhere to be found for my 6.0.... time to search the junk yards.

I would check with your local dealer to see if a f250 or f350 has the same part. I was told it is by a friend but never confirmed it cause I found a new one. Though as stated above it wasnt the clockspring but the airbag.

The plug going into the steering wheel controls is different on the F250, there is an extra black wire I suppose I could leave alone.... I'm going to see if I can cut and solder if the wires match up. Also found a used Navigator clock spring but it looks like its missing the harness to the ignition, only issue is do I trust a used part.
Well it definitely worked.... just picked up a clock spring from Autozone, Dorman 525-236 and soldered on the original harness (horn side) and back to normal.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this! My clock spring was bad on my 2003 limited 6.0 excursion.. It has audio and climate controls and cruise control on the steering wheel..
As everyone said above it is discontinued part. However, the dorman 525-236 does work if you cut off The connector from the original clock spring and wire it to the dorman 525-236.
The wires on the connector are different colors then on the new dorman part.. I couldn't find a schematic so I traced the wires from the original seven pin connector and matched it to the new 8 pin one. There is an extra wire on the dorman part.. it's a black wire but I just treated it like it wasn't there.
Here is how I matched the wires:
From the original to the new connector...
Yellow to blue/whiteBlack/blue to black/whiteGrey/blue to yellowGreen/orange to green/whiteBlue to blueRed/grey to red/white
I soldered them together and put heat shrink around the connections..
Everything worked perfect and I have all of my steering controls back, horn and my airbag light is now off!
Thanks for the help and I hope this may help someone in the future.
Which wires did you solder together? The colors are different and there is an extra wire. Any chance you have a pic?

2002 Excursion Limited with cruise, radio, and AC controls on the steering wheel. Horn and cruise are kaput, AC controls DO work, I cannot speak for the radio controls as the previous owner installed an aftermarket radio. Everything seems to check out as functional (relays, switches, etc), so my next step is replacing the clockspring.
Is it as easy as described above with the swap of pigtail connector from the original to the new Dorman part (following the wiring sequence above)? Anyone else confirm this works?
Munkey, same exact issue. 2002 x limited. Bad clock spring. Want to splice old connector to new dorman, but unsure of wire pattern going from square connector to flat. Square 8 male pin to square 7 male pin can be traced, but square to flat wondering if color patterns are accurate or not?
Thx for posting this remedy to No Horn No Cruise Just bought Ex
Thx for posting this
i was pulling my hair out. Yes I don’t have much !
No Cruise. No Horn. Yes Ac. Unknown Radio controls as Kenwood head unit installed. No Airbag warning
steering wheel redundant controls frustrating.
Patch rewire connector beyond my skill level. Fine sodering. But I know a guy. 😊
6 pin connector to cruise control buttons on left side of steering wheel and, AC fan radio controls on right side of wheel. This is the connector to pencil solder on to Dorman 525-236 clock spring readily available. Part number & bar code of failed discontinued part

Reason: Add pic of original clock spring which is failing
So Cruise works. Horn works. Redundant AC & Fan buttons work. Lighting on buttons works.
Have not tried installing factory radio yet.
But this repair for horn and cruise worked. Horn had bad horns, fuse and replaced touch pad. Also relocated new horn to before radiator and oil cooler. Easy to get to if horn goes off in middle of night.
also, highly recommend you get an Apple Play or Android capable radio. I installed a cheap $140 Dual unit from Amazon. It works exactly like my wifes 2021 touchscreen radio does, and sounds better than the factory X radio. Brought the 2020's into the Excursion. Love having wireless apple carplay.
