Two easy options, either relocate the Ford camera from the tailgate to the license plate area, or buy a second Ford camera and the cable harness from it and mount it on your alternate tailgate. As far as aftermarket stuff, on my 2009 F350 I bought the cable harness for the tailgate camera to get the Ford connector to match, cut the camera side off and wired it onto my enclosed trailer with an aftermarket rear view camera mounted at the back. It's just NTSC composite video, at least through 2009 and I think through 2016 as well. At some point I expect it will change to digital / HD cameras and this will get a bit more complicated.
I just bought a 2010 F150, the worthless backup camera is showing right on the left and left on the right... Is there a easy fix to this or is it one of Fords "better" ideas... If its not a easy fix, my after market one from my old truck is going in...
Ford backup cameras are decent setups, not sure why yours is showing a mirrored image.
I am not aware of any settings that change the mirrored image but have you looked in the radio settings? Maybe someone has replaced it with a non-Ford camera?
Of 5 forums I visit, you are the only one I have seen complain of mirrored image.
That looks like a quality item, what is the night vision like? I already have a rear camera on my truck & another on the rear of the 5th wheel but both are pretty useless at night.
