64 dash *****

I've got a 64 F100 and what seemed like should have been a straight forward process, has turned out not to be. I ordered a set of new ***** a while back, I think it was from NPD, and most of them are not working now that I go to put them on.

The only ***** I could successfully replace were the 2 set screw ***** (fan and wiper) along with the lighter ****. All the rest of the ***** given to me are threaded on the inside, but they wont go on the old shafts. The Air ***** when removed do not have threads, but a cross hatch pattern. The Lights **** has an odd thread on it that will not thread onto the ****, ***** hole is too small. Both the air and light old ***** were plastic on the inside, no metal inserts.

Same with my glove box ****, one given to me has a metal insert, current one is just plastic.

On a side note, I'm struggling to remove the old choke ****, any tips?

Where can I source the proper ***** to replace my old ones with?

Was just out at the truck and realized all the ***** I have currently are Daniel Carpenter *****. I managed to make the light switch **** work now by running a 3/16 drill bit through the threads, which left enough thread to grab on to the larger diameter rod.

Got the choke **** off and that one also just has the cross hatch, no thread.

I bought both a choke **** and choke cable from DC last year. You would think they would just fit together, right?
Nope. The **** was threaded, while the cable was not, it had a flat side for a set screw. I just ran new threads on
the cable, so no real problem, but WTH, they can't even get their own products to be compatible???

But once installed, they do look and work fine.

My temporary solution for the choke is a friction hold on my **** that I drilled out just enough.

A little late now but I cleaned all my ***** with a good all purpose cleaner called Speedball by Butchers and a toothbrush. When I was done they looked brand new. All I did was order the white inserts and replaced them.

Looks nice! If I cant find a solution for my air ***** and glove box, I may consider going the same route you did.

Good stuff. Thanks. I'll pick one up soon. In the meanwhile, I used a threaded "air ****" with a no 6 screw to hold it in place.

I know I tried beating a white insert out of a new **** to try and put it on an old ****, and it wasnt budging at all. I'd think youd probably break the old **** trying to remove it. White inserts cost $3 and ***** with the insert cost about $7-$9, so I'd say just get the whole **** and rig it up like I had to do. Only the set screw ***** were straight forward installations for me.

Like I said earlier, I had to rig up all but 3 of them to make DC ***** work, but they're in place, look good, and are functional (atleast for now).

Looks like someone probably painted at least part of the inside of your cab - I can see the light blue over spray on things like the parking brake handle bracket and the rubber collar on the column bracket. So if you were wanting to color match something with original paint I'm not sure that's the best if it has been repainted. But, it's a known quantity at least.

***** look great. The one on the glove box door would be somewhat shorter than the air ***** or any of the others if you were going for that stocker look.

I actually work with the original owners brothers and found out about 2 weeks ago that he did have it repainted at some point in the 80's. I believe it was you that posted a picture of an original skylight blue truck in another thread, and I would say 100% that is a match to my truck. So hopefully when I do repaint the whole thing, I can find someone who can match the color right.

In regards to the dash ****, I'm just using an air handle **** for temporary use. I need to place an order later this week for a couple other parts, and was going to pickup the correct **** at that time too.

Thanks
