I am new to taking the Dash Bezels off and I did get directions on how to do this from somebody on this forum........but........ How freakin tight is the choke cable hooked on to the bezel. I have tried a crap load of things and it wont budge. Do I need to spray something on it?? Also, there is another bezel to the left of the choke that is not labeled with anything. I have never driven this truck as it is a project and the tranny casing is cracked so I need a new tranny in all, but anyway, I cannot figure out how to remove that bezel either. I have gotten all of them off except these two last night but I stayed up til about mid-night messing with the damn things!! Can somebody help so I don't stay up all night on two bezels. Thanks.
Choke cable...theres a 5/8" nut behind the dash which holds the whole thing on...undo from cab and this nut and pull it all out...the bezel is NOT removable from the cable whatsoever...its a one piece assembly
The other switch...the heater/defroster to the right, is set up the same as the wiper and headlight switch once the **** is removed(either by undoing small allenhead screw or spring clip depressed thru slot at rear of ****).
You unscrew the small inset nut within the bezel with snap ring pliers or similar.
If you have a 65 or 66 with the hazard flashers...It too is like the other switches mentioned above. If you are referring to the hazard flasher dash light..it is a push in and twist...like removing a tail light bulb...it pushes in from the rear.
Ok got the Choke but I still can't get the other bezel. This one is directly to the left of the choke and has no label on it. The inside nut is not the same as the others and if I spin it, it turns the entire bezel. It feel like there is a clip on the back side (behind the dash) but I can not get to it with anything to remove it. Is this what needs to be removed to get the whole thing off. Thanks..
if its a plain silver cap like thing...its a simple popoff...if its a switch with no writing on the bezel...thats the emergency flasher switch...to its left will be its light. To the right will be the choke and at the far right will be the heater switch.
If theres some other kind of switch its something that may have been added later...take a pic or note what the bezel/control is for..
That appears to be the 4 way flasher switch as it doesnt appear to have any writing on the bezel.....it should have a nut behind the **** and inset of the bezel similar to the wiper switch...the heater switch usually has the cable which works the defroster on/off integral with it as well...
I don't think it is a 4 way switch. It can only pull out or push in. There is no nut on the back that I can see or even feel. It feels like a clip but I can't get to it with nothing.
Ok it may be the switch you are talking about but it still does not have a nut on the back. It has a clip of some sort and I can not get to it. Any other suggestions??
I finally got the dang thing off. It wasn't easy but as you can see from the pics, the nut that stays attached to the relay broke off. So every time I tried turning the nut or the bezel, both would turn. Now, What is the little relay for? I'm assuming it may be for the emergency flashers since this is what was on the left of it. Is this true?? http://i41.tinypic.com/vzygib.jpghtt...om/25akkk6.jpg
The bezel most likely would have had the D shape in it as well...either way, the lil chrome nut there should have been would have screwed on the D portion of the switch from the frontside of the dash...exactly the same setup as the wiper switch...this is just the hazard flasher switch is all...or was...
Another giveaway to it is if theres no marking on the round dash bezel...its the only switch on the dash without any kind of markings.
