Just wanted to share my unfortunate experience. I've read the stories on here and been wanting to replace my cold air intake pipe but kept putting it off. Well the wife and I were heading out to go camping over the 4th of July weekend. Pulling our 29' travel trailer over Hwy 20, between Raining Pass and Washington Pass I was putting the coal to her passing a slower rig and heard a weird noise that sounded like an air leak for about 20 seconds then heard a loud pop. After the pop immediately, I lost power and seen a puff of black smoke out the exhaust. I pulled over and looked under the truck not knowing what happened. No sign of oil or anything I opened the hood then remembering reading the forums about the cold air intake pipes bursting I looked but didn't see anything.at the throttle body valve. I disconnected the trailer and drove the truck home 80 miles. My son came over the next day and we took the cold air side off and found the split at the bottom end of the pipe at the intercooler. I ordered Rudy's replacement pipe from Amazon for $130. I found Just Strokin's awesome write up at https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...t-install.html and will follow his instructions. So a huge thanks to all the write ups in the forums, Just Strokin, and my son who is an awesome diesel mechanic for Paccar. I should include I have 130,000 miles on my 2015 F-350 6.7 Don't wait like I did..... How the pipe would sit in the truck Lower corner where it mounts onto the intercooler. Crack was on the bottom side Left side is the throttle body side, right side is the intercooler side
Just noticed this today that pipe was pulling out of silicone hose on my Rudy's pipe. I'm gonna get on this today after work. Its up against the intercooler coolant fitting.

Or just build boost passing someone going up a steep hill and blow it right out of the pipe
That'll do it too! Still baffles me why Ford doesn't address this issue, Oh well, at least it's fairly affordable to replace and repair isn't all that difficult
Have these pipes changed at all for 2019? I know its warranty, but just wondering if Ford has updated this or is it something I can look forward to doing in the future...

They've been updated, however the piece that seems to have a very high rate of failure is still plastic. I'd suggest if you're worried about it, to upgrade it
