My EBP at idle reads 0 and under acceleration it doesn't go over 10. What can cause these abnormal numbers; a bad EBP sensor and/or tube? Thank you in advance for your help!
As Mark mentioned, that is where I would start looking. I am not sure if the EBPS is one of the sensors that uses the 5v reference voltage, but you could check that to see if the harness was intact. Inspect the wiring from the plug to the main harness bundle as well. Replace the sensor if it looks clogged with OEM only. Check the tube, make sure it is not clogged up or rusted through.
I like to go to RiffRaff for most online orders, or a local International dealer if I need the part quickly.
Thank you for all the helpful advice! I will report back once the issue is resolved. As far as eliminating the sensor, I did not think that was an option. I thought only the EBPV could be eliminated.
You can eliminate the exhaust valve (pretty common to prevent it getting stuck) but the sensor itself is needed. It's one of the inputs the PCM uses.
Could be the sensor is clogged with soot, could be the tube is clogged or rusted away. When removing the sensor use a wrench on top and a wrench below to minimize the torque on the bracket. It's flimsy.
Good information given so far.
I cleaned the tube and gently cleaned inside the sensor when I replaced the water pump. Having all the parts out of the way made it a cakewalk. It read the same after cleaning. I then replaced the sensor with a new Motorcraft sensor. My TouquePro numbers on a cold engine KOEO, EBP, MAP, BARO are now within.2 of each other, on every start.
if you clean the tube. make sure you clean inside the fitting where the tube mounts to on the exhaust manifold. Not just the tube fitting. Those can plug solid.
