EBP sensor bad?

My EBP sensor is reading ~6 psi high consistently. Either KOEO or while running. Is this just the tube being blocked or should I order a new sensor before attempting this repair?

I was about to ask the same. Mine's reading about 5 PSI engine off and idling, this is using the Torque Pro app. I recently cleaned the tube and sensor, they weren't bad but decided to do it. I didn't have any way of reading it at the time so no clue if the cleaning did anything, but I was really gentle with the sensor. It goes up & down quickly when throttled so there's no blockage. It would appear that the sensor is off or the app is off.

Does yours go up & down when throttled? If so it can't be blockage in the tube, but possibly some gunk on the sensor.

I just realized I should pull the tune out and see if maybe that's doing something to it. Superchips 1705 currently on the mid level; "Tow Performance"

Yes, my reading on Torque Pro fluctuates mostly in sync with MAP, only about 6 psi high. If you cleaned yours and it is reading 5 high I would say we are seeing bad sensors.

I will wait on someone with more experience to come in but I guess I will be buying one soon.

Edit: AFAIK I have no tune/chip however I have seen several posts mentioning to only do the check on a stock tune

You're EBPV sensor is supposed to fluctuate while running..... you find bad sensors by going KOEO to start and compare MAP,EBPV and BARO together. Anymore than .5 variation, EBP sensor is Bad.

I checked with the tuner off and still had the same high reading. Throughout the day the reading got progressively closer to atmospheric with the engine off, wound up about 2 PSI high instead of 5. I assume it's something with the sensor heating up and changing. The reading also seems crazy high under load, the pressure shoots up even with very minimal boost. The engine makes good power so I can't imagine an exhaust restriction. I assume it's either a bad sensor or the app is showing a bad reading, but don't know how to figure out which it is.

Thank you. That is what I thought but wasn't sure.
To clarify, I was incorrect it currently reads ~6 psi plus boost level off. Time to order a sensor.

Like everything else with these trucks, Buy OEM, Not aftermarket. People have had problems. at least with the sensors.

Make sure you check the tube and connections on both ends....At this age they are rotting out or getting there. That will also give you bad readings. and put anti seize on the threads of the connectors, you're gonna be cleaning the stuff every 50-60 K. They'll keep getting gunked up....

What should the reading be with the sensor disconnected? Hoping that'll confirm that it's not the Torque app lying to me before I spend $ on a sensor. I know many of the other sensors have a default reading when disconnected, hoping the EBP is one of those.

Having the Torque app brought me a lot of peace of mind. Having over 400k miles and no history on the thing I was delighted to see that my numbers are all good, other than the EBP. It's not without issues, but at least HPOP and other measurable stuff is good.

When you have doubts about TP programming, acquire FORScan and verify the readings. I've had an EBP sensor cleaning fail and replaced the sensor - that was the fix.

Huh, I didn't think to double check torque with Forscan. I will do that although I don't disbelieve Torque in this instance unlike E-350 who has some concerns.

Good advice, thanks
@Coax, thanks for the reminder to check the condition of the tube before hand as well
