My SIL is a tech at the Chicago assembly plant and he told me last night 3.3 is the latest version of sync. He said that's what the new vehicles have they are making. He is going to talk talk to one of the engineers today and find out if there would be a problem loading 3.3 into my truck. If not he will bring his laptop over and load it using IDS.
Instead of just having him upload it to your truck how about copying the file as well. Maybe we can figure out how to upload it to the net so we can all use it.
I was at the dealer a few days ago and told him I updated to sync 3.0, He said the 2019 they have on the lot has sync 3.3 and that is the current version and has bug fixes. I can't seem to find 3.3 when I go to my Ford pass update page.
The SYNC update page has always been pathetic and super slow for me. My last update was downloaded from a company called 4D Tech. So much faster and easier than Ford's site. They don't seem to offer any downloadable updates now. I just sent an inquiry in, we'll see what they have to say.
The Ford Owner website's SYNC update section says that there is no current update for my truck.
I finally got fed up with the continuous changing of my radio source and reverted back to version 2.3. You have to load V2.2 first and then install 2.3. All works fine now.
It's really frustrating that Ford does not seem to be concerned at all about this issue.
I thought the 17+ all came with 3.0. Within 3.0, there are different updates. Ford's site shows the current 3.0 Version as the below JR3T number.... So it says my 2018 3.0 system has an update and list this update. Still 3.0, so it looks like different versions of 3.0 and it does not change the 3.0 to 3.1, or 3.2, etc...
"What's included in this update?
JR3T-14G381-AM SYNC3 v3.0..."
I have downloaded it but not sure I will install, says it takes 90 minutes, truck must be running, has to start updating while in park, then you can drive but do not turn off.
Hmmmm, idle the truck for 90 minutes to update software via USB? Wow, I can install windows faster than that and Ford update only requires a 8GB or larger thumb drive...
My '17 had had 2.0? and updated to 3.0. Allows me to use Waze if I want to with phone connected, could not before update. I don't use the radio at all, couldn't care less what station it is on when not using it. Nav changed not at all, those updates cost $149 thru third-party vendor?

My 2017 came originally with V2.2 and I upgraded it to V2.3 and then V3.0. It was during the last upgrade that the radio source would not stick.
