Timing Module

I think that is what this is called, i'm pretty sure this truck hates me I have been trying to get a truck thats sat for a bit back on the road and i keep having to solve little issues well as I was getting ready to time the truck I came across the connected with the unplug-able timing module melted into it, is there anyway to get one of these new or am I negated to a wrecking yard and if so will one from any of the fords in this gen and various motors work, I am going to have to snip off the wiring plug as well since the module is melted and stuck in it. If you look at my thumb you can see the wire skinned even but it shows no sign of arcing from a short circuit. What does this do? if I cut it out im assuming ill be able to set timing as I await the replacement. This engine (460) has no real pep is this the cause or a likely culprit ?

You could check to see if anybody has this part new. One from a salvage yard that looks good should be okay, just cut plenty of wire with it to make decent splices. All it does is cut the computer off so you can set the basic timing when the connector piece is removed.

I doubt if this is the cause for your engine having no pep unless the timing is now way off. You can cut the old one off and set your timing, but you will have no advance unless you wire the two wires together after setting the timing, until you get the replacement part installed.

You say the Ignition Control Module is on the driver back corner fender well with a SPOUT Shorting bar with it.
I think what you are holding is a plug for the ECT or IAT sensors.

Like I said I am new to fords at least this gen, I agree it would seem the timing module is next to the remote tfm. However this is in the harness that goes to the distributer, probably still needs repaired whatever it is

That plug looks like the AC compressor clutch plug. Check the AC compressor to see if its missing

Check out the exhaust too when you have time, if you can disconnect it somewhere or make a cut then patch after... I've had a bunch of trucks over the years and all except two of them had either plugged converters or plugged up mufflers that just take all power away from the engine.
