By the way do You know of a link to a video or thread on how to take these metal clips off so I can reuse them on the new imrc actuator?
Crazy how with A.I. and all the technological hardware in the world it's still tough to find seemingly simple videos or advice. Tried researching how to fix an exhaust leak at the manifold to exhaust pipe connections since there's PERMANENT DONUT GASKETS and couldn't find much. Gonna permatex seal em, cure then apply putty over
Some swear by seafoam, others curse it. In the crank case I think your only supposed to use a small amount, so don't pour the whole can in the crank case. I use seafoam in my oil/gas mix for my weed trimmer, that's about it though, but I've had good results keeping small engines from getting gunked up with it. I only use two cap fulls in a gal of gas, but I get 4-5 years before having to rebuild them, vs 2-3 yrs w/o it. I use that Auto RX stuff in my car and truck though.
I don't know much about the IMRC system. F150Torqued has studied it quite a bit though. So if he doesn't chime in, or you don't get any helpful answers, try PMing him or starting a new thread.
I'm afraid to go to prying on these clips with a flat head. Did that on the air intake manifold butterfly valves/rods retaining rail and had to j.b.weld it back together hahaha
When we opened up the valve covers on the motor in my '04 XLT 4x4 that's exactly what we found. Cams, springs, and all. Everything. All of the paint was flaking off and traveling through the motor. No saving it. Cheaper to drop a reman'd in it, which is what we did.
When I'm done with timing job can I pour engine oil over cams without flooding anything that doesn't need oil below cams to "rinse" out sugar sand before I put oil pan, front cover and valve covers on?
