yea, this old broke down 62 year old full of metal replacement parts did the exact same thing, got everything out of the way so,s i could get comfortable, sat down on the cross member frame and watched video,s

I ain't had a drop in about 95 days, had to redirect and focus on more important ways to bide my time. Radiator coming out asap, thank You

Do make sure you don't have excessive crank end play first . Once end play starts eating thrust washer and spitting them out next it too late to save it . A reman would be best ,most guys replacing thrust washers have failed to get it to hold after putting a lot of money in engine . Plus a lot of head damage gets iffy also . If I can get 325k to 350k out of mine I will be happy anything beyond that would be golden . she's getting old but not as old as me .
I just found out my wifes explorer may have the 3.5l that has water pump inside oil jacket if so I will trade it after 100k -- damn .

Had a 93 explorer with a 4.0 121,000 Trouble free miles,Lets not talk about the m5od tranny though, the sheemetal rusted right off the frame yes my friend that is Ford Engineering, just read their in Financial Trouble again, or just making excuses to shed some weight.Shame, i read if it wasn't for those waterpumps the 3.5 would be a bulletproof engine

Done did twice but I'm gonna spiffy it up real nice tomorrow before I pull covers. I had a service engine light for butterfly control valve on back of intake has valves stuck open but looks like this phaser/timing isn't pulling intake. I'd be good to do both jobs simultaneously eh?
Wanting to test the module before I buy a new one for butterfly valve controller. Can I clean intake inside with carb cleaner or is that too harsh? Should I find and post for buttery valves in a different thread?

if your TB is metal id use TB cleaner, dont want to damage the teflon coating on it. Nylon, im not sure if there is a teflon coating.

But should you read it, that is the question. If you do and figure it out, please educate us. We can tell you how to get to it, change it out, route the wire harness to it, and make it work. (BUT HOW TO TELL IF IT IS WORKING REMAINS A MYSTERY - other than by the associated trouble code ).

huey67 I went to modular motorsports . com but wasn't sure which OEM steel ratcheting timing chain tensioners to get. Does 08 5.4L matter in selection? Would You happen to still have the part # available as modular motorsports asked for that in email reference and I didn't want them to send me wrong part. Thanks Bud
