I have the Built Right AMP mounting platform on my Super Duty (near the middle speaker). Wondering if any of the dash cams out there will mount on a standard RAM mount. Don't like suction cup mounts and don't think I want perma-3M adhesive either. Looking at Aukey for under $100.
Yeah, did the search but not finding specific thread to dash cams. I know I read a bunch of them in the past.
I haven an older model Cobra dash cam. It came with a ball and socket swivel with a suction cup for the windshield. The ball was similar in size to the "A Size" Ram mount system. I took a chance and ordered a 3" double socket arm and a "A Size" ball mount from RAM. Seems to work great.
Maybe check dash cams with a ball and socket adjustment to see what might work.
You might also be able to get the adhesive mount RAM ball (B Size) and glue it to a dash cam, similar to my Scan Gauge II setup.
That is what I have my RAM mounts attached to, and I think the OP might have that also. The Built Right mount is easy to install and works great for RAM mount bases.

Yup, I have the BuiltRIght setup. Question is whether the cameras will accept the ball mount that fits the AMP/BuiltRight

If the camera ball is within 1/16” either way of the RAM mount arm size, I would think it would work. The RAM a size mounts are 9/16”, and I think my dash cam ball was 5/8”, and works just fine.

Thanks. I'll probably go behind the mirror for stealth, like normal people do.
Got only the two cameras and a 128G card includes GPS logging module and I added the remote to save a video segment. I'll mount it up and use the supplied dual power plug for the time being. I rarely park the truck away from home for more than an hour or two, so if I think I need parking mode I'll just keep the camera powered and let it run (unless I can modify the parameters outside of parking mode for Time Lapse or Bitrate).
I already did the FORScan mod for extended power port timeout to 4 hours and expect the truck will shut down power using the internal Ford battery voltage monitor. I did not disable battery monitoring. I can simply unplug the camera when parked in the shop or in camp for an extended time.
The option to hard-wire is still available if I just have to have it for parking mode but I'd still have to unplug the camera (at the housing) to kill parking mode in the garage.. not ideal to repeatedly plug/unplug the mini or micro-USB.
Also, I'd only need to buy a cable kit and GPS with mount to transfer the cameras to another vehicle.
