Perfect choice. very durable and hold up well in constant sunlight.
Werner Fiberglass is all I use they are very sturdy compared to the aluminum alternatives, especially the extension ladders. Over time UV light will break down the fiberglass (5-10) years of constant sun exposure. By that time It's probably time to replace it anyway.
I have a 2WD so I don't need a ladder to work the hitch but I do carry a 2ft ladder for many other things in the bed of the truck and I can tell you from experience that to be sure and keep it secured so it can't leave the bed going down the road.
One other suggestion if the main issue is reaching to pull the hitch pin release. Would be to get one these assuming your hitch release is type that this would work with. This worked for me and now I don’t need to use a step my step for hooking up any more.
I mounted one of these in front of the rear axle. It swings in under the truck when not in use. I got it years ago at Tractor Supply but here it is on Amazon.
I use that and my factory extended running bed...works perfect for cleaning the windshield too! Especially those of us that are vertically challenged...

1. Interesting, where do you store it?
2. Not available for F350
3. Available most any truck stops, 18 wheels use the to adjust trailer tandems.

Sorry just saw this ask -
1. in the bed of the truck, I reach by using the #2
2. - it definitely fits the F350 it is on mine (amazon may not know the proper part #) . This link will show it fits directly from the AMP website https://www.amp-research.com/amp-res...de-step-access
3. agree love my extended handle I don't need the 1 & 2 much for hitching anymore. I still use #2 to reach into my truck bed and inside my toolbox. since I store the tire step inside bed so this how reach it. #1 it works great for other things, I put it on the front tire so I can reach work under the hood. It works great for cleaning the windshield and the reaching the center of my hood when cleaning them.
A short piece of chain and a padlock can tie most ladders to a tie-down point in the bed. Or a bicycle cable lock.
When I have my fifth-wheel on, I have a five-gallon can of diesel on one side, a spare 20# propane tank on the other (both secured in milk crates), and a short step-ladder up front. Everything is chained in place. Still plenty of room for the Andersen hitch.
While I could be mistaken it is my guess that a potential thief would need to be 7' tall in order to see inside the bed of trucks similar to mine.
I just throw my ladder in - snuggling between my hitch and the sidewall; I do however tie my propane down, but just to keep it upright.
