WHAT IS THE MOST POPULAR BED LENGTH ON THE SUPER DUTY SUPER CAB, THE 6 3/4 OR THE 8 FT?

If you don't need 8 Ft. of bed behind you each and every day, why tote it around?!
With my tailgate down, I can haul the occasional sheets of plywood just fine.
It boils down to what you use your truck for most of the time, however, i can tell you from experience, a short bed is easier to live with day in and day out!

A couple of other things to think about...
1. Towing stability increases as the wheel base increases.
2. I've never owned one but...if you purchase a fifth-wheel trailer, will the hitch work on the short bed? I've heard that might be a problem.
3. 90% of trucks out there appear to have the 8 foot bed...how easy will a short bed be to sell when it's time to unload it?

The way I see it, why own a full size truck without a full size bed.I own a 99 F250 SD SC 4x4 with the 8ft. bed,I can fit two quads in my bed with the tailgate closed. If you want a short bed buy a Ranger.

I went with a short bed after test driving one and then a lot of research on hitch installation. I pull a 5th wheel rv and a 3 horse gooseneck trailer. A lot of horse people are using the shortbed now- there isn't any problems with the hitch and they tow great. With a 5th wheel you need a "slider" which allows the hitch and trailer to slide back 18" after pulling a release lever. This is only for parking in tight situations so you can "jacknife" your rig to park in close quarters. The truck itself is great to park vs my old longbed- I don't have to walk from the farthest part of the parking lot anymore.

I just ordered a short bed F350 crew cab and can't wait to get it. But.....I called the manufacturer of the hide away hitch for my gooseneck horse trailer. He scared me when he said yes they install the hitches in short beds but I'd have to be careful not to hit the cab with the trailer. I hope I have not made a mistake by getting the short bed. I didn't want to have so much length to my truck but if I can't jackknife the trailer every once in a while into where I need it, I might have made a mistake about the size of bed??? Any experience you have with the same situation will be appreciated. I suppose I could call the dealer and change the order but I'm hoping it isn't as bad as I think???? Thanks in advance for the help!

I have pulled my horse trailer with my short bed at least twice a week since August in all kinds of situations. You can't hit the cab with a horse trailer because the ball lines up with the very front of the nose of the trailer and is more narrow (with the exception of a few of the new wide bodies) than a 5th wheel RV. With 5th wheel RVs, the hitch sits back under the nose making the nose closer to your cab and you can hit the cab when you "jack knife" it to park it (unless you have a slider). I have jack knifed my gooseneck into some really tight parking spots at horse shows and have't come close to hitting the cab. A lot of the other new SD trucks at the horse shows are the short beds. I find mine much more manuverable than my old long bed and I really like mine a lot. I haven't tried my slider yet but I have seen more and more RVs with them too.

The F250 SC SB is right at 19' long which allows me to fit it in the garage (barely). Getting a CrewCab or a longbed it would never fit in my garage or most garage's for that matter.

I wanted to get a short bed cause I think they look better, however my motorcycle (which I haul occasionally) is 7ft 10in long.
I ordered a long bed, which should be delivered next week.
