Has anyone dealt with steering column upper bearing? I had to play around with the horn coming on by itself at night so while I was in there I decided to look at the play in the column. This thing has amazing steering drives like new. I'm about to hand it over to my daughter turning 16. Trying to go through all the bugs and safety. The steering wheel pulled in and out about 1/4 inch. That just did not feel right. digging deeper bearing of course is in pieces. While trying to pull the bearing off I barely touched the upper shaft and it collapsed into the housing. Has anyone dealt with this? Trying to short cut I looked for a salvaged column complete which also fixes my horn issues but so far I found a few on Ebay but no one answers questions. I searched google that ended up with a site showing all these salvage places. Next thing I knew people from all over the world are calling me trying sell me sight unseen idiotic prices. That started feeling like scams so back to square 1. I see no info about this anywhere so I am reaching out to the ford brains on here. Any idea what job I'm getting myself into. New shaft is a bit pricey and I am getting up there on money as it is for a SUV that isn't worth much on the books. This thing was perfect right up till the day I decided to make it my first daughters first car. Now both my fords are down This one and my F-450 diesel is kicking my @@@ with electric. thanks for reading
