steering column

I think there is something wrong with my steering column.
I can move the wheel right and left about 1/4 in. both ways

Does anyone know what might be wrong with it ?

is it your column or the steering shaft in the column? if its the shaft in the column it could be a bad bearing.

try adjusting your steering box. a haynes or chiltons manual should tell you how to do it.

1/4" side to side without turning the wheel would be the upper bearing. 1/4" rotation would be considered excellent.

steering column

on my 77 F-150 you can turn the wheel alot with no tire movment. it is where the top saft connect to the string box. there is a little rubber dick that wares out.
