It would go as a complete motor turbo and all. Probably let the ecm and harness go too with everything on it wouldn't pull it until person's herd it run and was happy
Personally I would like a stock engine better. No telling what parts were put in a modified engine, or if they were installed correctly - unless you happen to know the owner.

100% agree ^^^^. Being modified you also don't know if it was somebodies weekend racer. It more than likely also has a tuner??
I've never seen anyone racing an f550 picker truck lol but ya it's always sceptical buying a used motor u know nothing about....just seen some going for 2500 range but double the km and completely stock these things are known for head gasket issues until they thrown in arp studs and also egr problems.ive been told they are good motors once certain mods are done but I'm a Cummins guy but not a fan of dodge lol so I'd rather swap a 5.9 in
Counterfeit parts are a problem. That includes head studs. Mahle sold an aftermarket head gasket called Black Onyx. Since they were the manufacturer of the OEM head gasket everyone said it was identical (except the color of the soft goods). Turned out they failed pretty quickly! You also have to consider that some heads have been known to crack. You also have the prep work done on the heads and block, and the proper torque procedure .... with a calibrated wrench to throw in. All that to consider and I would want to install my own upgrades.
You can learn a lot more about an engine driving it w/ a good scan tool to watch engine parameters. Also would want to watch the degas bottle pressure. A pressure gauge can be rigged up fairly easily for it. If it checks out, then $2500 doesn't sound bad.
Good call the guy I'm getting the truck off has all the receipts for parts and work done so I'll make sure I get those as well as he did replace the heads as well.........ya u have to be careful with everything these days a lot of people knocking **** off or throwing **** together to make a dollar it's getting pretty brutal I do all my own work because I don't trust people these days lol
