As of today's FDNB, the only SuperDuty high risk constraint is for 40 gallon AFT fuel tanks which is standard on, and only relevant to chassis cab models. And looks like they closed orders for those last month due to the constraint.

Those trucks will leave the lot around $5,000.00 under MSRP. I am paying approximately $1000.00 under invoice. Out The door is around $2,000.00 under MSRP. I still think an aggressive deal would be a few thousand less. The PCO situation pisses me off too. That average $3000.00 discount would enable the dealers to empty the lots. I almost went to Koons, 3 hours away. In the end my local dealer threw a few things at me.
Without mentioning names a local dealer had an XLT in Magnetic they definitely could have sold to me. Didnt have the console, didnt have 4.30s But it was close enough that had they actually tried I would have bit. They let me walk out without even making a counter offer. As if there was nothing they could do. I had check in hand. Two weeks later they called and made an offer that would have sold me. But by then I ordered my Lariat.
Thats what I mean by aggressive. If you give me a price, and Im saying its too much. And I offer say 3 grand lower. At least come back in the middle. The dealers here were all acting like the price is the price... sorry best I can do. The Magnetic XLT I looked at had been on the lot for 3 months. I bet they could have sold it 5 times. Its still there another 6 weeks later.
I was a pretty easy sell. Never a Dodge guy. Too much rust. Im driving a GMC 2500 with 117,000 miles. Its been a great truck, but a bit of rust... not even looking at GM since they threatened to move more production out of the U.S. I have a 2017 F-450 at work so I know the truck...I want the F-250. I told the dealers all this crap and they just let me walk out. Over basically a grand.
So thats what I mean by more aggressive.

I looked at Koons site, its not clear what makes up that 10K bellow MSRP. It does include Ford rebates, so $2K of that could be in Ford public and finance rebates, that you can get at every Ford dealer you go to. Then if they also have other dealer fees in the mix its not unlikely that their true dealer discount is more around $7K, or less depending on what those fees are.. Here in CA. $7k dealer discount is a bit harder to find but in other parts thats maybe average. The amount the dealers have to play with is regional and sometimes dealer specific based on variables. I try to look strictly at dealer discount before any rebates, to me thats the only variable. If a dealer has a bunch of added "fees", subtract that from the discount to get a true cost.

I ran into the same kind of hard nosed sale recently, they like in your case, let me walk over $1k even though I had been quoted that by another employee. As far as the PCO goes, I would much rather have them stay direct to the buyer than let the dealer play with that money. Chances are we would only see 1/4 of that in savings, the other they would pocket.

I ordered an F550 4X4 chassis truck 6.7 and F350 6.2 gasser back around April 10th. Still no vins for either truck. Dealer told me I was lucky to have gotten the chassis truck order in as they closed the orders a week after. Hoping to get vin#s soon.

Some trucks I looked at before ordering have sat for months. Thats why I ordered. If Im going to pay too much...I shouldnt have to pay for stuff I dont want.... or not get something I do want. The whole thing has me pissed off because they could have sold me a few of the trucks if they were a little more aggressive. Ill be driving my new truck by the end of the month while the dealers sit on trucks month after month after month.

Our trucks were built the same day! Ordered mine on 3/11 it told me yesterday that it was in production and estimated delivery was in 18 days. I checked today and it’s in transit and estimated delivery dropped to 12 days. Might even make it quicker than that only has to come to SC

Good luck with your new truck Smirks. The website told me it was being scheduled for delivery on 5/2 but no further info yet. With the other replies to this thread I wonder if Ford is closing out the 2019s?
Forcal, I also didnt go to Koons because if I cant sell me GMC in time and had to trade, they were not as direct as my local dealer. My dealer did a carfax, made me an offer and committed to that in the contract as long as I didnt put over 2,000 miles on it. Koons told me 4 to 6 thousand. Well I cant justify driving 3 hours with that much money on the table. Thats enough to poison the deal. But I leveraged that with my dealer and made a palatable deal. The guy that let me walk over a grand called and pretty much offered me the truck for what I was willing to pay. But 2 weeks too late.

Hi,

I'm shopping for a new F-450 now, and I was told by one dealer that I would be better buying off the lot because there's a production freeze due to the fuel tank supply issues.
I'm not questioning dealer's knowledge per se, but other dealers (couple of dozens) did not mention the issue and told me that wait in average is 8-10wks.

So what's really going on with those fuel tanks if any? Should I be worried and thinking ahead about 2020 models?
Likely I'm ordering by the end of May if it matters.

For what it’s worth, on March 17th I ordered my F250 6.7 crew cab (34 gallon tank) and according to Ford’s site the build was completed this past Friday, May 3rd and is now awaiting shipment. So I don’t think there are any issues with the 6.7...

Thank you for the responses. Now I'm being told that ordering for 2019 closing in a week (again, not by everyone I contact).
Trying to figure out if this is a trick or for real.

Can you guys confirm this table is worth reading or not?
https://www.donlen.com/buildstart-trucks-ford.html

It says 40gal vehicles are out of order already, but F-450 should be 48gal.Totally Confusing.

edited: So I called the Ford (marketing dept) and asked them several times, are they sure there's no cut-off next week. They told me it's likely about specific dealers, b/c dealers might have personal limits and cut-offs depending on some factors.

Will keep you guys posted about my findings.
