Order Issues

So... I ordered my Truck back on 4/1. Did not hear anything from my dealer after ordering so I reached out after 4 weeks. He said the Ford rep told him they have a commodity hold on the 6.7 diesel with more information to follow. Any hear anything about this?

(Just a Guess) They might be making the switch to the 2020 models and they may have put a stop on orders for that model. You may want to contact Ford directly.

There is a sheet that I've seen that shows the last dates for orders. If I'm not mistaken it was still farther out like June or July.

When I picked mine up two weeks ago the dealer said that I was lucky to have gotten it. He said that they had to stop producing because of a parts issue, just after mine came off the line. He thought it was a tank of some sort but didn't know any other specifics. He said that dealer swaps were going to be way down and that discounts were probably going to take a hit due to a short term shortage of units on hand. Supply and demand...

My order was placed 4/8/19. 6.2 though. vin received last week. Truck was assembled 5/1 right on schedule. Waiting to schedule shipment to dealer as of this afternoon, 5/2/19. Must be a diesel related delay. I dont know about discounts taking a hit as I see a lot of trucks sitting. Never the less they arent discounting enough already. Some trucks I looked at before ordering have sat for months. Thats why I ordered. If Im going to pay too much...I shouldnt have to pay for stuff I dont want.... or not get something I do want. The whole thing has me pissed off because they could have sold me a few of the trucks if they were a little more aggressive. Ill be driving my new truck by the end of the month while the dealers sit on trucks month after month after month.

They will start offing them when they need to, Ford will most likely help with that. Out of curiosity, what would be aggressive pricing to you?

I talked to a friend who works at the Kentucky plant and according to him they are full speed ahead with production of Super Duties. Perhaps there's an issue at the Ohio plant?

OHAP only makes Chassis Cabs, so unless they were ordering one of those, probably does not come into play.

For what its worth, you hear all the time of dealers claiming 'These are really hard to get', and 'They have had an issue and had to stop making this model' all the time.

Well if you look at Koons in Baltimore youll see adds at 10,000.00 below MSRP. They have some un advertised costs for handling etc. but thats a good place to start. Those trucks will leave the lot around $5,000.00 under MSRP. I am paying approximately $1000.00 under invoice. Out The door is around $2,000.00 under MSRP. I still think an aggressive deal would be a few thousand less. The PCO situation pisses me off too. That average $3000.00 discount would enable the dealers to empty the lots. I almost went to Koons, 3 hours away. In the end my local dealer threw a few things at me.
Without mentioning names a local dealer had an XLT in Magnetic they definitely could have sold to me. Didnt have the console, didnt have 4.30s But it was close enough that had they actually tried I would have bit. They let me walk out without even making a counter offer. As if there was nothing they could do. I had check in hand. Two weeks later they called and made an offer that would have sold me. But by then I ordered my Lariat.
Thats what I mean by aggressive. If you give me a price, and Im saying its too much. And I offer say 3 grand lower. At least come back in the middle. The dealers here were all acting like the price is the price... sorry best I can do. The Magnetic XLT I looked at had been on the lot for 3 months. I bet they could have sold it 5 times. Its still there another 6 weeks later.
I was a pretty easy sell. Never a Dodge guy. Too much rust. Im driving a GMC 2500 with 117,000 miles. Its been a great truck, but a bit of rust... not even looking at GM since they threatened to move more production out of the U.S. I have a 2017 F-450 at work so I know the truck...I want the F-250. I told the dealers all this crap and they just let me walk out. Over basically a grand.
So thats what I mean by more aggressive.
