2. use the stockers then
3…. WFO do not get their front ubolts. use these from PMF
semi round. 9.5"
Front Axle Ubolts
Now that I think about it, I believe I will get new spring plates anyways because it looks like that's what the PMF plate with airbag tang is. I previously had the airbags installed using the rear block but since that is going bye-bye, I needed the plates with the tang to re-install the airbags.
I have provided links to all the parts you need and narrowed it down to 2 vendors for the Procomp 22210/22415 setup that will put your ride height at 27". ( 4" over stock)
this rides great on the highway and performs excellent off road and will clear 35's
for starters, or to address your chief complaint of rocking back and forth on uneven roads.
that is your sway bar, Remove it and let your suspension move.
I have been trying to convey this to people for awhile but the whole ..” you need a rear sway bar” is so engrained in the FTE few head my advise. But the fact is the Ex doesn’t need a rear sway bar for body roll. . .
thank you everyone.
@ATS Junior what do you do to your mod c codes to make them match the Xcode springs?
and if I read all the threads correctly the Xcode springs give approximately 3” of lift over a factory excursion correct?
@pirate4x4_camo I understand your logic and discussion about spring rate. If I understand your post correctly the procomp springs give 4” in front and roughly the same in the rear as long as I take out the factory block?
how do the procomp springs hold up to towing?
do the sag in the rear like the factory springs?
my trailer isn’t heavy, compared to new trailers.
mine only weight about 6k with about 600lbs tung weight and sags my factory springs a little over 2” when I hook up.
thank you everyone.

I used the WFO caster wedges that were recommended. I have some driveshaft vibration in the rear even with the wedges, haven't had a chance to see if that's due to bad angles or a suddenly bad ujoint or if I just need to pony up for a CV shaft but it bears mentioning.

Our ATS Mod C is different than when people mod the B codes. Our spring's construction is different due to amount of leafs and arch of the spring giving higher capacity and rear height. And that is normally what we see with the X codes with front lift.

It probably is bad joints. I just went through all of that with mine, which has a cv and had lots of driveline vibration. Ended up having to have all of the joints redone with quality parts and have it rebalanced.
@ATS Junior thank you for the response I appreciate it. I’m just getting a list together of parts.
it will be a little while before I dive into the replacement springs. I plan to add lockers and gears, as well as new tires all at the same time. So it will be some time before I am ready to purchase anything. However I am pleased with all the reviews of your products. So I will probably be in touch sometime next summer.
@pirate4x4_camo you mention the spring rate of the front procomp several times. 430 lbs/in however I never seen mention of the spring rate for the rear springs you are recommending. You mentioned they are single rate. And close to the factory excursion rate. So are they also 430lbs/in rate?

The new ride gets the previous owner's 6 inch bds springs removed today and i will be installing the 22210/22415 springs, I have shims we will see where it winds up and install as needed. I may hate those also
but we shall seeas for your set up hayden you should measure first before doing the shims. you may only need 2 degrees or one, every rig can be slightly different
and get a new set of shocks, The KYB mono max is a great highway ride with just enough compression and rebound for dirt roading with a stock height Excursions on stock-ish tires. They run about $50 each.
the stock excursion ride height as measured from the center of the hub straight up to the bottom of the fender arch was 23” front and 24” rear.
I have built many Excursions of my own with everything from junk yard springs to exotic linked suspensions with coilover shocks and helped either design or setup many many more for others and from my experience the “sweet spot” for ride height is 27” But 25” front and 26” rear is also doable using single rate springs of the correct....or let’s say more ideal spring rate. If you want one of those setups I would be happy to post the links to the parts needed from 2 vendors ( of which I am not affiliated with ) price comes out to $1100 complete with everything you need.
PIRATE would you provide your recommendation and list for the excursion.
I have been reading for weeks. I read a huge, really helpful Modified B code spring step by step posting….the end of which had you opining similarly to here…that the b swap isn’t really much of a swap.
are you referring to the B, modified B or both?
looking at a few websites the B seems to be a 3,000 lb spring…vs 2230 for stock. From a lay perspective…the B seems to be an upgrade.
The modified B …in concept…offers a little more….but what from your perspective?
MY PRIORITIES: an increase to tow capacity, better handling, an inch or so of lift….in that specific order.
I have new V codes for the front already…easy swap for which there seems to be little disagreement.
So I have also seen F codes…the modified V code, and your…still unknown suggestion.
in any event…go with your recommendations….and in terms of my priorities any thoughts or opinions.
to the modified B code folks…I’m 7 weeks of reading and I’ve learned so much from that…and it has been my plan. Just exploring this sudden left turn.
Pirate that is in advance for any reply…and anyone else who opines. This is a great forum for us all.
