I just put 125.5 x 35 mudders on my bush/trailer tower truck. Thought I should get a custom tune for it. I guess my 25 ' camper trailer is somewhere around 7000 lbs loaded. I have a bullydog gt kicking around that will replace my superchips program (extreme tow) if I can get a tune for it that works. Id love one of the newer tuners but this is my hunting fishing truck and doesn't get used every day so the bully dog will have too do. I live in British Columbia and pull some really long steep grades. Thanks for any help as the more I read the more my head spins and im not getting anywhere
Pyro is the most important gauge so you're pretty well covered for running a tuner. Bully has their own tunes to choose from and supposedly has a network of custom tuners, see if they have something you like.
Is the superchips not working well enough for you or you just wanting to try other things? Superchips and all other 'generic' tuners aren't well regarded amongst the more knowledgeable people here, but my buddy's truck and my Excursion both responded well to his old superchips 1705 tuner. After only a short comparison I'd say that it might work better than my Hydra with its standard tuning, but I like the other things the Hydra offers that the SC can't do.
........ Superchips and all other 'generic' tuners aren't well regarded amongst the more knowledgeable people here......
"More knowledgeable" or most brainwashed? What is less generic about the tuning on one platform (piece of hardware) than another when it's all copy-and-paste? The tuning may be slightly different from one company to the next but unless a customer has a really unique setup or desire, Johnny Customer with his not-so-special list of generally popular "mods" will get the same tuning Jimmy Consumer got three months ago for his similar setup. Jimmy didn't call back and complain so the tuning company figures the tuning for that application is good enough for the masses with similar "mods".
Whether dealing with a flash programmer or a chip, each will have its own pros and cons regarding features and operating characteristics. Personally I'm a fan of flashing the PCM because I pick one calibration and go. However, with the lack of available hardware to flash the EEPROM, most "tuners" are stuck with using piggyback hardware (chips). Sure, these offer switch-on-the-fly capabilities and the ability to carry numerous different tunes for every driving situation, but how many of us really mess with the **** or buttons after we find our Goldilocks tune?
I personally adore the tuning on the 1705. It's simple, safe, and effective. In addition, since you already have both, save your coin for other things to make your hunting rig more capable. The tires won't have any effect on the tuning anyway.

Before SXE turbo and towing 12,000 lbs 5th wheel, I used 4 "copy and paste tunes" regularly.
1 - No Start (used when parking truck away from home and having to leave it to adventure into nature)
2 - Daily Drive (1023 light tow)
3 - Heavy Tow (Gear Head heavy tow)
4 - High Idle (1023 1100 RPM)
After SXE turbo and towing 12, 000 lbs 5th wheel, I use 3 "copy and paste tunes" regularly.
1 - No Start (used when parking truck away from home and having to leave it to adventure into nature)
2 - Daily Drive (used for towing and daily driving, just switched from 1023 to PHP 65HP Performance to see what my thoughts are)
3 - High Idle (1023 1100 RPM)
I like having the option to use no start since I have not installed a cut off switch as of yet, but will in the winter before next camping season. At that point, I will most likely go down to 2 "copy and paste tunes" that I use regularly. Daily Drive and High Idle.
People like to have choices, and will often make the choice to select a more versatile piece of equipment, even if the other options are not utilized on a regular basis.
thanks for the reply's . I just wanted to see if there was a better tune for the long steep hills we have here and liked the pyro temp defuel idea on the bullydog but the bullydog runs a fair bit hotter than the flashpac so thought I would see about different tune for it. Thanks again
I tow near your turf - Chelan, WA. The bigger tires make a real difference - it hurts towing performance, I have that tee shirt in the drawer. We have only so much oomph available to us with stock injectors and modified stock turbo, have you done the red line mod?
Sorry for not replying sooner. have a heck off a time getting on this site lately. I have a turbo smart waste gate actuator with the line hooked up.
yes the bigger tire have slowed acceleration but I actually pull the big hills pulling our 7500 lbs trailer a little faster running my 35s because I end up in the same gear pulling my usual 2700-2800 rpm 1175-1200 degrees. Map sensor says I make 34lbs boost...but I know that's not very accurate .There are some really long pulls.
