2000 V10 rough idle
I've been reading through the posts after searching 'rough idle' but most include a code that is being thrown...mine has none.
Back story...about a month ago I started feeling a random miss at idle...very subtle but you could feel it. Seemed to only occur at idle. Checked the engine with a code reader and nothing came up. Added injector cleaner but nothing doing.
Replaced the PCV valve/PCV heater assembly, still no fix.
The fuel pump went out about 3 months ago so that wouldn't be the issue. Also replaced the idle sensor about 2 years ago. I've had a coil go out before and it threw a code...it would stumble under throttle but would run fine at idle. This is almost the reverse, stumbles at idle and under throttle until about 2500 RPM, then it feels strong above that.
I'm wondering if I have a vacuum leak? Problem is I have no idea where all the connections are that could be leaking. Any ideas where I should start?

I wish I was more familiar with the V10 and I would meet up with you to plug Forscan in to see what is going on but I would be “experimenting “ grouping around in the dark trying to figure it out when somebody familiar with the engine who knows the parameters should be able to quickly pinpoint it.
But what I really hoping is to ride in your V/b suspension and do some comparisons to mine. So if your willing to meet up I can try and see what we can see via Forscan. I am in Lincoln.

I had a vacuum leak from the PCV grommet and the port on the intake manifold. if the grommet is even slightly loose it will leak and give idle issues. ask me how I know. I got a new grommet and new hose from PCV to intake port. solved that.
Also did you use a Ford PCV valve? before I swapped mine I had read of many other folks with V10 having issues with non-Ford PCV valve.

It is pretty simple to watch live misfires with Torque.

I didn't look at the grommet on the valve cover, but the PCV valve "feels" like it's seating well in the grommet, and I didn't see any cracking. I'll go back and look again this weekend.

Pirate, would be happy to give you a ride to check out the feel. It's a V/Modded B just so you know. I'm in Mather. I'm teaching a class right now, but would be happy to drive on a road you know well to compare suspensions. For me, the stock was horrible...had the steering wander issue, the front would bottom out just pulling out of the driveway. The V/Modded B for me at least has been the absolute best mod I've ever done...steering wander all but gone, drives much more like a truck, but not as severe. I still use the air bags on the back when towing so the Modded B wasn't the silver bullet, but for me going any stiffer would have made day-to-day (non towing) horrible.

I've got a 2000 with the V10 and I use Torque to pick up pretty much all the same PIDs with my bluetooth OBDII adapter as I can get from a regular OBDII-compliant PCM. I think it's one of those weird things where it isn't OBDII-compliant in terms of what will set off the MIL and what it's monitoring, but it uses the OBDII protocol for communication.

Torque will work on your vehicle just fine.
With the OBD1 calibration there will be some sensors that are not present so they will obviously not be read. You will need to simply ignore these and focus on those sensors that do provide a reading.

a cheap $10 ELM Bluetooth adapter on Amazon and any Android based product. I used my kids Kindle Fire. And Torque is free. Only $5 to purchase the full whamadyne version (highly recommend).
They may be OBD-I compliant...but you can read most of the same stuff that OBD-II systems monitor. It's fun to watch. I found my misfire from bad plugs using the app.
