Spark delay vacuum

Hello fellow fordsters,
finally coming to the end of this never ending 79 f150 project. I am routing the vacuum lines on a transplanted 351 windsor that came out of a 74 Torino. So I got the Spark Delay thingamajig in my hand. Where exactly does this frickin thing go? Which direction does it point. It has two nipples sticking out. Sound familiar? Any help would be appreciated. Do I actually need it? No egr sytem being used here. Thanks.

Pic: Look at 12A170 (at bottom center). Is this what you're asking about?

There's a gazillion different types of this one way valve, so each is color coded and some have an ID number molded into the plastic.

It was spliced into a vacuum line, but which one, I haven't a clue...because there's no applications for these puppies.
