Sounds like the wipers only function on the "wash" cycle. The switch must be bad. I just replaced mine, got it at dealership. It was pricey. Not sure about local parts stores? Get online and search.
The switch isn't hard to remove. Need to get the cover off the column. There are 3 screws on the bottom of the cover. You need to remove lock cylinder. Insert keys, push pin in bottom of lock, turn keys and remove cylinder(watch video).
Ended up buying one from Rockauto.It was an OEM Motorcraft unit.
It was just under $100.I checked the local Ford dealer,& they wanted $150
for the same part.
Thanks for all the help! I got it swapped out.It was a really easy job.
I pulled the old one apart,& found out it was just a wire that broke.
Wish I would've checked that first,before spending all that money.
