Its not that hard to get the switch out. I did it awhile back, think all you have to do it remove the coloum cover and you can see what else needs to be done.
Try replaceing the switch, While we find your parts, please enter your ZIP Code at PartsAmerica.com, thought it was cheaper, but if that doesnt fix it take it out and take it back, what i did.
Thanks for the link. I'll have to try that maybe next weekend. I know the parts shown alot of places arent accurate, but does it come with a new stem too, i mean whatever that thing is called that sticks out with all the functions on it?
While you're in there, it would be a good time to open up the turn signal switch and clean the contacts. Mine were so corroded the left-turn signal lights quit working. Someone on FTE told me about this; can't remember who. (Credit goes to that individual...and you know who you are.)
I thought I needed to replace the entire switch. All my bulbs, fuses, and wires were good. I asked a question. Not only did I get an answer, but the process was explained very well. It was so easy to do, I don't know why I didn't consider it in the first place.
When I got my 97 the fast speed would work but the intermediat (sp) would not. I took electrical contact spray and hosed in between the end **** and the stem while twisting the ****. The switch works in all positions now. It might be worth a try for you. Tom
